low oil level warning vRS

Featured Replies

Hey all. Just out of interest, does the vRS have a low oil level warning light ? (NOT low oil pressure low oil level)

mine uses a little, and I top it up, but did a long weekend recently that amounted to a few thousand miles since I last checked , when it was in the middle of the hatch, checked again yesterday to find it just below the minimum marker..... in my fabia vRS, the computer would flash up the orange oil level light at this point.....

does the octy have have a similar system?

(if you only have to comment "these engines don't use oil" or "you should check more often" please don't bother :P )

AUQ engine code? The ultrasonic sensor appears as G266 on the wiring diagram for an Aug 2000 onwards AUQ. Do you have oil temperature shown in the clocks, on the MFD? If so, it uses the same sender in the sump, so you should be monitoring oil level. VCDS will see it in the measuring blocks for the Instruments module. 'Alarm' level may not be set the same as on another model.

yes its AUQ , (2001) but I have the old MFD, and I don't have oil temp as a readily available function.... although on other models its related to variable servicing, and I KNOW this car has been on variable all its life, I have a full service record (160,000 miles! :o) ... would I be able to simply activate oil temp with VCDS ? (I miss the oil temp I had in the fabia vRS)

nice to know the sensor is there anyway, I will look into it :) (and hope it would tell me if oil level is too low! lol.... NOTE: when I checked it was on the slight uphil on my drive, I know from experiance, if I would have parked on the slight downhill it would have still been between min and max.... maybe it would have warned me if it had gone a bit lower......)

I honestly don't know what's doable and what isn't with VCDS. My 2003 Polo (variable servicing) has the sensor, but doesn't even have an MFD, so I can't display anything (other than a warning light for low level if it happened, I guess).
