People with stripped out cars...

Featured Replies

Can you hear the turbo on your car when you accelerate hard? Just been for a thrash round in the Octy and I think it's either got a boost leak or I can hear the turbo from in the car. Happens in all gears and anything above about 1500 RPM stopping as you lift off so I'm pretty certain it's turbo related, sounds like an air leak or fast air flow. It's a MK 1 Octavia 1.9 TDI, Any common areas for leaks? It seams powerful enough but as it's my first time driving it I have nothing to compare against.

I can always here me turbo spooling up (more so when cold of a morning) - ALH vnt Turbo tdi - same as yours iirc

I can hear the turbo in my well insulated/sound deadened 320D

Thanks guys, it seams to be performing well enough so I think I'll leave it alone.

It's a wooshing noise like a road sweeper you need to worry about (boost pipe issue)

In my old mkI, I ran it once without the centre console and the turbo was quite a bit louder than normal.

I hear everything haha

I can in my pulsar but not in the Fabia unless I'm close to a wall with the window down.

The pulsar you can hear quite loudly especially once it pulling 1bar, Although it's not stripped out it doesn't have much in the way of sound deadening.

Fully stripped out only dash and 2 seats.
