Celtic Tuning Remap

Featured Replies

I've been in touch with Graham at Celtic Tuning and he's told me that two members from here are getting their vRSs remapped today (27/12/05) by him in Yorkshire area.

So come on then, who are you??????

I'm really think of getting this done very soon as the price is excellent and from what I've heard so far, so to is the service and remap.

Delroy,

Not sure who they are or what the maps are like for the money. The only one I know who has had work done is Shifty, but his figures were not great, but that I guess is an advantage for mechanical wear and tear.

I've PM'd shifty and he seems impressed with his.

I was quoted in the region of 190BHP.

  • Administrators

190?

NFW.

Let me find a link, as thats above all others in market. I suspect a real figure of more like 160 IIRC.

I know a bloke who had his Audi remapped by them and was suitabley impressed. He travelled from Surrey to Scotland for it, so it can't be bad service!

Again.. a remap is as much of a muchness..

Celtic remap was within a couple of bhp of my car.

I just checked the email response I got from them.....

".We can remap your Fabia vRS to produce up to 190bhp and 300lbft (deliberately limited) torque giving great performance gains and all within safe tolerances of the engine and drive train. The in-gear performance will be greatly improved and under normal driving conditions you can expect to see an improvement in fuel economy. We specialise in the VAG TDi engine and can provide all levels of tuning required.

All remaps are fully custom tailored to your requirements and therefore we can tune it to suit any driving requirements i.e. towing, off-road, fast road, track etc. We can also remap it to take into account any modifications that you may already have to enhance the performance gains further still.

The remap comes with full money back guarantee if for whatever reason

you are unsatisfied with the results and also comes with a 14 day cooling off period whereby you get the chance to fully test the map and still be entitled

to a full refund."

What BHP is yours then?

I am the second in the northwest with a celtic map, just waiting for a tweak to mine as mine is down on power at the moment compared to a Jabba and CC'd one.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions folks, Dave's (Shifty's) made 155 @ the fly iirc, there is a graph here somewhere with his results, I have to say that I am not as happy with mine as Shifty is, waiting for Graham to get back to me over the "tweak". Mine is the 190 map also.

cheers

Ok,

Well I'd prefer it if celtic was on board as a sponsor, as info by pm or off site does not help others form views of the whole market.

I'd heard other tales from similar sources, but thats how the wind blows sometimes.

Everyone has costs to cover, advertising and public open advice is but one of them from the likes of our partners, without which the site; and others, ceases to be viable for my pocket.

I'll admit it does nark me a bit, given they declined to contribute to the site, but still appear to trade off it....

Sorry just narky having sat through Narnina thinking figures for next year and so on.

All fair points Colin.

(says he with the AMD remap :o )

Very happy with mine. :D Just awaiting a tweak to account for the exhaust and filter, but showed 155 whp, on awsome gti's new fangled rollers. Was going to get a dyno run at Jabba, but had to dash off, which maybe would have shown a differant figure. Who knows. As Col G has said, the figures for mine were within a couple of bhp of his. We are the only two mapped Fabias to have used the awsome rollers, so cant compare to other figures. Maybe this weeks dyno "shootout" will paint a bigger picture.

Anyway, whether my figures were "impressive" or not, it drives well. :)

Mine does'nt, can't use the loud pedal to heavily until 2.5k to avoid vibes / judder from the DMF, then have 1k to play with before it's all over. I know what I will be doing in the new year if it's not "tweaked" soon and it will involve a trip to chesterfield. Have reset the ECU ... no change. Going to stop talking now ;)

 What does "up to" mean? That says nothing. Worse than "Up to 50% off" claims in the sales.

I know what your saying there, but it's flexible to how the driver wants it. If you only want it mapping to 150 bhp, thats what you will get. :)

Eyup,

Dont wanting to start anythink as I know that Shifty's vrs is nippy after his remap but this rr readout looks very similar to another rr read out but with a different fly wheel power output. http://www.celtictuning.co.uk/testimonials.html#SkodaFabia19TDiVRS

It's identical to this one, but with a "calculated" flywheel figure. Flywheel figures for everybody on the RR day were low, which was explained in a "our machine is deadly accurate" kind of way. I think the "calculated" figure is probably nearer the mark myself, based purely on transmission losses shown on dyno plots from other tuners. I'm not saying any of then are right or wrong, as I haven't the knowledge about these things, but thay all vary quite alot between rolling roads. Only of any real beniefit if everyone uses the same rollers on the same day to compare figures per mods done, or same rollers, same car, same day, for a before and after figure.

I have had a remap from Celtic.... no complaints at all, transformed my car. I doubt I will ever get it rr'd, but my car is now faster, runs smoother and is more economical.

There appear to be some sour grapes on here by members who have paid a hell of a lot more for remaps by revo, jabba, et al, and not got the doorstep service.

I would recommend Graham and his outfit to anyone considering a remap - top notch service with top notch results.

(I have driven a revo'd VRS and it didn't come close to what the celtic map has produced)

No sour grapes from me, other than waiting over a month (approx and still waiting) for a reply to my pm to graham @ celtic. Now what did that mail say about customer service? I have driven a Jabba mapped car and a Custom Coded and both where better than mine, my previous post explains my map glitch. I honestly believe at the moment that my car was more useable un-mapped and for me the smoothness of custom code may be the way to go. But then my remap will have cost getting on for a not unconsiderable

ooops

One final thought' date=' HOW can a map be tailored to your car, and car's mods without it being on a dyno, with the curve analysed, air / fuel levels checked etc etc, at a guess I would say it's impossible, it has to be considered a generic map.

This is certainly one thing holding me back

I have not noticed any sour grapes in this thread from other users with mapped cars from jabba / JBS etc and taken in isolation the celtic tune appears good at first, but then you leave the isolation and see the bigger picture (or in my case the banging choonz of the dmf if it is given full power below 2.5k).

I have been patient enough waiting for contact, or the map to be tweaked next time they are up (which it would appear they have been several times)

So, thats my tuppence worth

You certainly didn't upset my applecart.... no wories there mate.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, I sincerley hope you get them sorted soon.

Comments re: sour grapes relate to a number of threads about Celtic which I unearthed when I did a search when considering which remap to get a while ago......

Edit: Why does your sig say your car is remarkable with your remap if clearly it ain't ???

Because the car it'self is quite a remarkable little beastie as a package, and still quick once "nursed" over 2.5k rpm, and it rhymed nicely :D
