I know you'll never get 53.3mpg out of it! :D  Really do wonder where they get these figures from!

Looks good though

From bench tests, not a proper road test which is what I think should happen

Didn't get 50 mpg out of my mk2 vrs diesel, so not expecting much :)

Cheers

Got there and the car was marked down by £1k ! Brucie bonus

Who would be driving on these road tests, what route would they take, what time of day, what time of year, what outside temperature?

How hard would they accelerate, how hard would they brake, etc etc

Give a car to a manufacturer test driver & I'm sure they will post similar if not better fuel economy figures than quoted now.

They will quickly find the best quality road surfaces, with slight downward slope & will wait for a tail wind...

People will still moan because they cant drive the same way.

Until people realise the biggest contributing factor to fuel economy is the driver themselves changing the way it is tested wont make any difference.

From the number plate would imagine it was registered by Murray Skoda in Plymouth (or maybe Newton Abbot) - can't recall seeing it around this way though. Its got early spec round steering wheel by looks of it.
