I like the idea of electric cars at this level, I only commute, (we use the wifes bigger car for long journeys), I could easily last a charge a day or longer.

And in something like a Mitsubishi that's £30k ie not a leap more than the diesel model, I can't see me parting with £20k+ for a £5k car..

On a side question, they quote mileage range and charge times, but its hard to establish the COST of a charge, ie the pence per mile to compare against petrol. Does anyone know these figures, I appreciate it depends on the electric supplier at home, but what about the charge stations round the country? I could go a long way with a 30min charge, if I linked the stations up..

I pay 14.7p per kWh at home, a 22kw charge costs just under £3 as it's never a full 22kw and I can do 70-90miles in my Renault Zoe, at the moment all the ecotricity chargers on motorway network are free, but expect that to change anytime now there are more and more ev's on the road, I did 450miles from York to Essex and back for free, did take ages though lol

The greater torque of an e-Up would be welcome but the heater is a simple electric one and saps charge, reducing the range - a Nissan Leaf has a more energy efficient heater (don't ask me what). I believe that the range of electric vehicles is reduced anyway in colder weather. Depreciation is heavy and I am not convinced the national grid is sufficiently green yet.

It makes no financial sense at moment. My greentec cost £9950 with extras. That leaves about £10,000 for fuel against cost price of electric version ( not including charging, and some places in northeast now charge for charging). £35 gets me 400 miles so £10,000 would give me about 114,000 miles !! When they cost same and get same running costs I would look again

Yes correct as Hyphons said. Great car but too hard suspension for my back. Very sad. I'm very happy with the CT200h though. [emoji4]

I would shop around and change immediately, you will be able to charge up a lot cheaper.

I just renewed with First Utility and i'm paying 10.7p with a 17.62p standing charge for electricity
