DCC fell over again!

Featured Replies

Back when my S3 was but a few days old the DCC system failed completely and switched itself off. That turned out to be Dealer failing to correct switch 'Transport Mode' off. I gave them some latitude as it was the first S3 they had, and had more toys than their Demo car.

Yesterday the system fell over again and refused to change mode at all. No fault warnings, just the light going out when the button was pressed and then coming on again, but nothing else happening. I was getting ready to send the car back for warranty again, but after locking and leaving the car for a while the system seems to have sorted itself out again.

I was going to try the '10 minute reset' that so many manufacturers now use.....take the battery off for 10 mins and then reconnect it, but it sorted itself.

So do these cars go into a 'sleep' mode as other manufacturers may have in their models, and if so how long does it take?

I know BMW have a 17 minute 'sleep' clock which shuts everything down after that time. That will sometimes allow everything to sort itself, but the 10-min battery reset' is more effective in many cases.

Is it harmful to pull the battery off on these cars? Do you lose any settings?
