Uploading to YouTube

Featured Replies

I am having problems viewing a video on my mobile that I have uploaded to YouTube via laptop.

When I attempt to view it, the video is 'unavailable'. Yet i can view it perfectly well on laptop. I should mention that I have used two songs in the video. I assume there will be some form of copyright claim or what not. How can I get around this, as there are hundreds if not thousands of videos on YouTube containing 'owned' music.

Or, is it to do with the mobile phone platform. As I have noticed many occasion when searching for songs on YT, using my mobile, result in live recordings or sped up/slowed down edited recordings. Whereas searching for the exact same song on my laptop results in dozens of official, studio high quality recordings?

Alternative to uploading the video to YT, what other free options are there?

I have tried Vimeo and the daily motion, however the video is 10minutes long so it exceeds the daily upload allowance.

I would like to be able to upload it to a site so that friends and family can view the video for free. Surely that's possible in this day and age!

Thanks in advance.

I bet this is due to the songs you've used.

Some content providers allow you to still use their copyright, but then claim ad revenue from your videos, others just block the video completely.

On your laptop, I assume you are signed in to YouTube? You can always view your own videos, even if they are made unavailable due to copyright claims.

If that's the case, you'd have an email to tell you what's happened to your video, and when you go into video manager, it would show that it has a copyright claim against it. This just means you can still show the video, but not get any ad revenue from it.

If it has been blocked worldwide, it will tell you so

Either way, it will show in your video manager where the video is available etc, and you can always view your own videos, even if blocked worldwide.

Also....really daft question, but the video isn't set to private is it? If it is, again you can only view it when you're signed into YouTube.

Thanks for your reply:

I assumed that may be the case so I had tried logging out of my account, closing the browser then opening it again without logging into YT. It did still work, however I will try that again to be sure. Are there any other video sharing websites / services that you would recommend?

I will also double check again the video manager page, and try and work out what is going on with the copyright side of things.

I'd like to think I didn't select private. But I will double check to be sure!

I have since discovered that whilst the video is view able on laptop / desktop platform, it is not viewable on mobile devices. Seems bizarre as it can only be to do with the copyright issue, so why does this mean it cannot be viewed on a mobile, yet viewed perfectly fine and in full audio on a laptop? Anyway not to worry. At least some people will be able to see it now.

Got the link? We'll see if it's viewable elsewhere.

Can't seem to get the link via my phone.

I will get you a link the next time I'm on my laptop.

The name of the video is: The Heel Edge Crew

Thumbnail is of a few lads sat down on snowboards. In the snow :)

That's the one yes, were you able to watch it on your mobile, or was it on a laptop/desktop?

That video works on a laptop but not on my mobile phone, I get an error the video is not available.  I'm assuming as above it's a rights issue for the copyrighted music, the rights are different for the web browser and mobile devices.

Works on my phone if that's any help?

Are you using Tapatalk by any chance?

If so take the s out of the https in the link and see if that helps.

May I ask what phone you have? The majority of my friends are on iPhone and non of us have been able to view the video on our mobiles.

I'm not no, I used to but there was a big update recently and I haven't been able to log back in using Tapatalk since.

Do you mean take the 's' out of the link on this thread to view it, or on a browser?

Remove the s when you post a link.

iPhone 6S here. Definitely playing as normal for me.

I'm just wondering if that's the official Youtube app in the screenshot or if it's playing a browser or another client?  It doesn't look anything like the Android YT app but then as it's IOS it could be quite different.

On Android, I can open a browser and run the video through the desktop version of the site but it doesn't work when the browser is set to the mobile version or through the client.

Official YT client:

Video running on the phone through the browser:

Edit - this one above is achieved by going to the Youtube site then switching to the desktop version, if I browse the briskoda site and click play on the embedded it also plays but looks like a different player again:
