Damage to rear back single seat octavia 2013 vrs

Featured Replies

Can anybody help with info. I have some sort of chemical damage to the back seat bolster vinyl on both sides... May have been due to child car seat that may have had some contamination. It's really rotted melter to tar the back single back rest only. I will have to find an upholstered to re do the vinyl I guess.

Can anyone tell me how to get the single seat back rest off the bottom seat is fine.

If I can get the back off then I could send it to an upholsterer. Any suggestions on where to send it to and how to get this off I would be greateful.. Sadly I don't know how to upload photos

Bit confused here Al

What's a single seat back rest and rotted melter to tar?

Your best bet is to get yourself a photobucket account (takes 5-10min) take some pics with your smart phone (if you have one) and upload them.

Skoda sell the original seat covers for replacement, but they aren't cheap.

Sorry predictive  text... and no glassed on... What I mean is its not the bottom of the seat but the seat back only that is damaged.. It has melted to a tar gunge on the bolster vinyl edges.. The leather is Ok as is the seat base..

Yes will have a look at getting the photos sorted THIS WEEKEND

Thank you

al

Loving the predictive text :)

What have you tried on it?

Baby oil and elbow grease is good for shifting a multitude of sins on leather/vinyl

But sounds a bit more serious than that, from best looking for a local furniture repair or upholstery shop

Took a while but managed to upload a poor photo. The left hang damage is smaller and has gaffa tape over it. So I need to see if I can get the back rear back rest off and knowing how to do this or getting somebody who will repair it is not easy

Thank s

Wow that's gone right through to the foam.

Maybe try and get a used VRS seat from a breaker's yard.

Have a look on eBay search for Octavia vrs seat breaking or try filling out www.parts gateway.co.uk search and they will get back to you with prices.

If you lift the boot floor and lift and tilt the seat bases, you will see the securing bolts.

Glosrich. Thank you so much I tried all over Aberdeen and shire but nobody replied or answered. I did not know about the company you suggested it never came up on my search when I did it,

I gave them a ring but it's Saturday so guess they are mon to fri but if they are able to do this they would be perfect. I will try Monday. I will let you know how I get on..l it would be fantastic if they can. Very much appreciated the help. Thank you

I had a look at the boot section.. I lifted the boot floor. I could see the two plastic pins on the runner rim.... Do you pull these off to reveal the bolts for the single seat back to come out or do you go in from the cabin part... I am quite technical but find with cars especially manufacturers put things together for speed rather than engineering and I don't want to break anything or spoil the car...

Any info appreciated thank you

Al

Lift the seat base and have a look under there also.

Is yours an estate or a hatch?

On the estate, pull the front of the seat base up, then you should be able to pull forward and then fold down into the foot well. You should then see the backrest securings.

Thank you Goodrich again... I will try this. Unfortunately the number of the upholsterer seems unavailable... Perhaps they are on holiday. I will try again tomorrow

The upholsterer number was wrong, but  by chance I managed to get in touch with him...He said he would phone today Sunday and come and look at it this morning....So waiting at the moment but at least its a start   Local Skoda not really that helpful    Well....... if I say I want to buy a new car ,,,,very helpful, but not that interested in the seat.... They have said that the seat is out of stock on back order  but I got the impression they could not care...Sorry
