Headlight conversion for european driving - Skoda Superb II

Featured Replies

Thought I'd share the headlight conversion for European driving of my facelift 2014 Skoda Superb II S as I seen a couple of them with Eurolites attached.

I don't have the benefit of "Travel" or "Tourist" with the halogen headlights on my Superb  and last year I struggled finding how to convert them last year for driving in Europe - spending a lot of time with the master technician at my local Skoda dealership - apparently they are very different from the pre facelift models

I can now do it in a couple of minutes a side using an inspection camera and a small screwdriver. You need to remove the headlight bulb plastic cap, insert the inspection camera viewing the "wing side" rear of the reflector - follow up with a small but long screwdriver to move the lever (it clicks into position)

Hope this helps someone, I'd even bought a pack to Eurolites ready!

I've take photos of this years (today!) conversion:-

Hi

I'll be travelling to France in September. I used to own a Saab, on which I could easily switch the headlights for European driving with a lever on each lamp. I now own a 2020 Superb iV, but I can find nothing in the handbook about this and, as I've often found, my Skoda dealer is useless. I saw your post from 9 years ago, but I can't figure out from your images what I'm supposed to do to change the direction of beam. Are you able to give any further instructions, please? I can't believe that I'm the only person with this issue.

Regards

Geoff

Then you're in the wrong forum section. This is the Superb II (2008 - 2015) section.

Your car probably has the latest LED headlight technology that may engage tourist mode when going abroad - detected using the satnav GPS. If it's the simpler LED I think the official VAG line seems to be no adjustment required.

[EDIT] I've found a previous link for exactly the same questions:-

To be honest I have the same issue with my new car (Swace) which has LED lights and no tourist mode and the lights do have a slight uptick to the left when you shine on a flat wall. It might need Eurolites stick ons - but looking at an example instruction sheet and manually making a temporary cover it doesn't mask off the slight uptick. There are multiple "bulbs" with LED headlights. I might leave alone and adjust to the lowest setting. Again my local dealer has no idea and it's not mentioned in the rather thick manual.

anyone know if the xenon lights fitted to my 2014 Superb can easily be set to eu requirements without sticking eurolights on them as I need those for the classic I am towing over to belgium.

So it is about being used on Mainland / Continental Europe & left hand drive and not the UK part of Europe or Ireland / EU Right hand drive.

its a UK car ie RHD but given headlights seem to self adjust thought it might be easy to align them for an EU trip rather than stick eurollghts on.

Sorry Mainland europe - belgium/netherlands
