What to look for?

Featured Replies

A pick up is looking hopeful this week.

Any tips to look out for when picking up the new car?

Obvious stuff is to check the ordered extras but the rest?

I've made a note to check umbrellas and 3 cargo nets in the boot.

Sorry if there is another thread but couldn't see one.

I'm quite likely to be picking up an S3 too so I'm preparing for a similar process.

I'd most certainly check for the loose items, depending on your configuration:

- 2x umbrellas (1 per front door)

- Nets

- Tire repair kit/spare wheel

- iPad holder (head rest clamp + actual holder)

- Removable LED boot lamp

- Safety kit/safety triangle/high-visibility vests, if your jurisdiction requires it

- Velcro organisers

- Topped up AdBlue tank, if applicable

- No missing caps for the ISOFIX anchor points

- Fuel tank lid ice scraper

- Floor mats

- Owner's manual

And perhaps a quick check on some of the functions, based on my observation of the issues mentioned on this forum:

- Air-con shouldn't be blowing hot air when set to cold, and vice versa

- Electric seat memory function (some time ago, setting the drivers seat all the way to the back would trigger a software bug?)

- Virtual pedal

Hope that helps!

Maybe depends on where you are in the world, but I'm pretty sure the ipad/tablet holder, safety triangle/medical kit isn't standard, floor mats unless ordered are dealer dependant. But agreed watch out for anything else removable e.g umbrellas, caps for ISOFIX, LED boot lamp etc and my manual was in the box under the passenger seat.
