Help with radio - 2011 Octavia

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I'm new here and have bought a second hand Octavia estate 2011 reg last week.

When i got the car back I realized I cannot use the cd changer, in fact there is not one in the car. There seems to be a box below the passenger seat with openings for wires but with not cd changee or wires..

So i assume its not there. I think its not worth getting a new cd change and wires, they seem hard to find.. but advice welcome on that.

I put on 32 gb of music on an sd card and the card says still says searching and doesn't seem to find the music on that ... is 32 gb to much to read i wonder?

I can't seem to see the car on my iphone bluetooth so cannot pair that. Can someone help with that?

I wonder if there is an issue with the radio and i should change it..

Other than that is feels like a great car and I welcome any tips or advice on anything you think !

Best,

Oliver

Bristol

What radio is fitted? It sounds like a Bolero, which has a cd changer built in. The wiring under the passenger seat is for a Bluetooth module, which is obviously not fitted.

YES A BOLERO.

OK so the blue tooth module is gone. Is it easy to reinstall?

I cant find any Cd changer in the car. The boot clean.

It probably never had Bluetooth fitted.

It won't, it's built in so it can hold 6 CD's inside the main headunit. You should probably read the manual for more info: http://www.octinfo.com/download.php?file=manual/octavia2fl/05_2012-10_2012/A5_Octavia_Bolero_CarRadio.pdf

Bluetooth is normally an easy install but it might need coding. Where in the UK are you?

I"m in Bristol.

Cd's don't seem to fit in the main head unit. There seems to be something blocking them..

Did you try following the instruction from the manual, I don't think you can just push CD's into the Bolero as you need to choose a slot first.

Inserting the CD
› Press / . (eject style button on the top right)
› Choose the location 1 .... 6 for storing the CD in the internal CD changer. Wait
until “Please insert CD” is displayed.
› Push a CD with the written side facing up as far as possible into the CD case
until it is automatically drawn in. The play function will start automatically.

Bristol is a little far from me but I'm sure you can find a VCDS owner nearby in the following threads:

You need to select which slot you want the disc to go into first then insert the CD.  Press the media button then CD and you should get a display of the slots.
