As my new MkIII Octavia vRS is due to be delivered anytime now I started looking at insurance quotes yesterday.  Has anybody been getting some ridiculously high insurance quotes?

 

I'm 33, 10 yrs NCD, 1 non-fault accident and 1 SP30 but I have no idea why I have been quoted in excess of £1300 by no less than 3 brokers and all the price comparison websites coming in at over £700.

 

Thankfully Chris Knott have come back at just £380 but the rest have been ridiculous.  I just wondered if anyone else was experiencing this issue.  I appreciate that my recent driving history has some bearing on the quotes but even so..

Possible clue in your location.

 

I once worked in Kent for several months, and had the highest premiums I've ever had including after an "at fault" accident when there.

At least it's not UK wide, I've just had the renewal through for my 4 litre 300BHP Audi A8. £199 including business use, but that is sleepy Dorset.

What gets me though, is that since I've lived here in the last 3 1/2 years I've had an E61 535d, an F11 525d and a Discovery 4, my insurance has stayed steadily below £500 a year.  Change to a vRS (at a lower insurance group) and it shoots up to more than it ever was as an 18 year old student!!  Oh well, at least I move in a couple of months
