Waterless Wash & Wax recommendations

Featured Replies

Any recommendations for a decent waterless wash and wax product would be most welcome ..

Just looking for something to keep in the boot of the Octavia, along with a couple of decent (microfibre ?) cloths so I can apply quickly and easily when I've got a spare 10 minutes ..

I did have some stuff that good old Home Bargains was seeking a while back, but I'm sure there are better products others that others have tried ..

Cheers

Hi,

The only one I've seen that gets half decent reviews is Chemical Guys Ecosmart.

I often just keep a normal QD in the boot with several microfibres. If the car is just lightly dusty then sometimes I'll use it with several microfibres and use the roll motion (start one side of the cloth and as I wipe the paint lightly, roll the cloth so the dirt doesn't touch the paint, then buff when sure it's clear)

I wouldn't recommend using it on any kind of solid dirt of any kind. although chemical guys are quite positive it won't cause damage.

Not used personally but heard good things about Meguiars D115 Rinse Free Express Wash & Wax. Comes in a gallon tub and can be diluted so should last a while too.

Can be bought directly off the Meguiars website.

I would use either ONR or Megs D114.

If you are interested I shall be putting up a for sale thread soon including the both of them as they just don't get used in my routine anymore.

I bought the Williams stuff off the TV in a moment of madness but it is actually pretty good, have tried it on both  lightly soiled and very mucky panels to good effect when I wanted a quick clean and was away from the tap

I currently use Williams wash n wax & is actually very good stuff. This is the offer on at the moment from Ideal TV

I also have Smartone wash n wax from Smartwax which is also very good but actually think the Williams is better if I'm honest,

Or you could use greased lightning showroom shine,

I use to/ use this product & find it pretty good, I have not used it in a while just for the fact that I ain't got any, I always prefer to use these after a proper wash on the car, but you can use these products straight on to a dirty vehicle but I don't like too personally.

I think the Williams or Showroom shine would be your best bet   B)

I have used Chemical Eco Smart when i didnt have access to water, I would say for cars without much dirt it would be fine, anything more and its rubbish and cause marring in the paint.

After time, testing wtc i figured out there was a certain way to do this...you need a super plush microfibre, folded at least 3 times to ensure there wasnt any excessive pressure points and then always wipe in one direction.

I have also tested Dodo Juice Time to Dry as the product was used before by the Dodo Juice guys at shows, this was before you brought out Basics of Bling QD, it worked but at what cost.....

My best solution was to use Chemical Guys Eco Smart in conjunction with a steam cleaner, worked really well

Really depends on the purpose of it...

I've used Greased Lightning showroom shine for several years now and I like it .... I have never used it on a really dirty car though and not sure I'd like to, despite all the hype, but for a mildly dusty car it's brilliant or a top up after a wash and it's a god send to keep in the boot for soaking and removing bird poop ...
