jimbof's Edition 100 Superb £2500

Featured Replies

Time has come to think about moving her on; this is the longest I've ever kept a car, and I'm torn as to whether or not to sell.  If someone can see the value in it then good, if not I'll just keep it :)

Quick photo; more to follow:

1.9 PD130 (AVF)
EYF Tiptronic Auto (ZF 5HP19 5 speed gearbox)
Currently on 178K; rises by about 650 miles / week.  Running great.

MOT til Sept 2016.

Edition 100 (basically an Elegance, fully loaded, with a nicer interior) std spec:

Black Magic Pearlescent
Sunset glass from B-pillar back
Solar Sunroof
Rear sunblind
Piano black trim
Twin chrome exhaust
Electric grey leather seats (heated front & rear) with dark doorcards - much nicer than the later L&K cars.
Bi-xenons
MFSW

MFD navigation with 6 disc changer
Cruise control
Cat vision ambient lighting
Parking sensors
Umbrella in rear door
Climate control
Auto dimming rear view mirror
Auto wipers

I've owned this car since ~Sept 2011.  I bought it with 38K on the clock, and it has basically done 110 miles a day - 55 each way miles to / from work, mostly dual carriageway.  I serviced it at main dealer while under the original warranty, and serviced it myself since then; every 10K miles with top quality Mann filters and Total 507.00 oil.  Diesel filter every 3rd service; all other filters every 10K.  Cambelt / metal impeller waterpump changed at 170K (INA belt kit with INA roller / Litens tensioner).

I've just refurbished the wheels; full dip, bare metal blast and powder coat in Aluminium colour, which seems the closest I could get to the original finish.  These Edition 100 wheels by now have lots of flaking of the original special finish, so tend not to hold air too well if they haven't been refinished, and a quick cosmetic spray job won't cut it.  New original centre caps fitted.

Since I've had the car I've replaced anything that needed it, always with highest quality parts.  The car has had (I might not remember it all here):

Refurb gearbox at 98k

2x wings, boot and driver's door replaced under Skoda paint warranty due to the common rust issues

Pagid / Bosch brakes

Bosch battery

Genuine alternator and alternator pulley

Aux belt tensioner

Aircon belt tensioner

Genuine thermostat, CTS, coolant bottle and expansion cap

Genuine Valeo aircon blower

Ticking climate control actuators replaced

Nissens radiator

All brake calipers replaced in last ~70K (most recent one done this week)

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetric2's (fronts brand new, rears ~4mm)

All original mats all round (driver's mat has been replaced with genuine a couple of times).

Small upgrades over stock:

Bilstein B4 shocks

Phatbox MP3 jukebox in boot in place of changer

TH Bury Crystal bluetooth handsfree with voice dialling

Nightbreaker D2S bulbs (10K miles ago)

Legal pressed plates in holders

Aero wiper arms

I have a service kit in the garage ready to go on the car in 2K miles time.  I also have a set of genuine steel wheels with Continental TS830 winter tyres, which will easily do another winter (or two, depending on your mileage); I will throw these in at asking price.

Interior in very good condition.  A small amount of wear on driver's seat bolster, but much better than most much lower mileage cars I've seen.  Rest of the seats are almost new.

Bad bits:

It is a 10 year old car now, bodywork is good but by no means perfect.  A few bits of paint chipped off the sills, a crack in the top surface of the rear bumper (a previous SMART repair which has given way again), some stone chips, etc... I actually have a spare bumper in the garage to get sprayed (it is from an Edition 100, but has more marks, though no damage to fail through paint).  You are welcome to it, I just haven't got round to it.

One of the headlight lenses is slightly cloudy.  I might get round to refinishing it.

Can be viewed in Norwich or Ely / Cambridgeshire.

These don’t come up too often so anyone considering one should not hesitate.

Providing the water ingress has been sorted before they leak (which this one has been done) then the MKI will also go on for starship mileage.

I loved my ED100.

It is certainly a nice car.  I wish I'd had time to wash it this weekend; been out with the family for all of it.  Managed to snap a quick few pics at the father-in-laws.  As you can see, even pre-wash it is a smart motor.  Also see the condition of the interior - as I say, the driver's seat is the only one with discernible wear, and ever that is very good for a car with 178K on the clock.

I drive it every day Norwich -> Ely -> and back again; let me know Roy if you'd like to see it or need any more information.

Looking for a replacement for this

Sorry to go off topic, is that Baker21's old car?

She's back! :)  The sunroof drain teats were squeezed to release and the small amount of water (only a couple of cupfulls as it turned out) was removed.  There has been no further ingress in the last few months and she's going great.

Has covered a few (well, 7K!) miles more since originally advertised... Now at around 184,500 and rising 600 / week still.

This car never lets me down so I'm probably a mug to sell it.

It has recently split both the outer CV gaiters.  In the case of the driver's side, I found a brand-new boxed dealer stock genuine driveshaft via ebay (originally £400 worth!) and had that fitted.  In the case of passenger side, I had a spare genuine used driveshaft in the garage with good boots on it, so that was fitted.  Also picked up a stone chip to the windscreen, which was repaired, but is still visible.

MOT is getting short now being up in Sept - I will take it to the local fastfit (Concorde Autocentre on Hall Road, Norwich) and do anything it needs to pass MOT if sold at asking (and you'll also get the winter wheels thrown into the deal).

Gallery here with a few photos after a quick clean inside and out...  Keep meaning to polish it but life is too busy!
