Octavia 11 1.9tdi clutch rattle

Featured Replies

Hi all, my 54 plate 170,000 miles car has delveloped a clutch rattle on tickover that disappears when the clutch is depressed.

We have owned this from new, full service history, motorway miles and on its third cambelt/water pump.

My question is does anyone think it worth going to the expense of a dmf full kit as the car is probably only worth £1000.

I hope this query is in the correct section and will supply more info as required.

P.s. looking for an octavia vrs now.

Great site, cheers paul.

if you are going to get another car i would just save your money and sell it or trade it in with a known clutch/flywheel rattle

you would be looking at around £750 minumum for a clutch and duel mass flywheel to be fitted

you can fit a single mass flywheel and clutch kit to the 1.9tdi i had it done on my old audi a4 it still cost me £500 and that was over 5 years ago

If it goes with just a gentle touch on the pedal, i.e. not releasing the clutch, then it may just be a noisy (dry) clutch release bearing.

Car could also go on for ages with a new Clutch and DMF or SMF conversion. Assuming it's ok mechanically otherwise.

less than £50 an hour for labour thats sounds very cheap, most places where i live charge that for half an hours labour !

Most independents in my area charge around 40, I had a year box replaced on my 1.2 fabia for £120, shop about the polish indi wanted £200.
