Auto 'box.

Featured Replies

Yesterday, after driving about 4 miles I stopped, pondered on where to park & restarted, put the drive into reverse & nothing happened. The gear indicator remained in neutral, tried 'd', again no change. Switched off & tried again & all was well. Any idea why, & should I be concerned? Thanks.

Sounds like the "normal" procedure where any microprocessor is involved, "turn it OFF and ON again" works 90% of the time. UNLESS it happens again I'd just keep an eye on it.

Like "Windows". Close all windows and restart. :-)

I've seen a few threads reporting this "false neutral" problem.

As it's a sporadic fault with no code they generally can't do anything.

Many thanks for replies. Rather as I expected.

Are you happy with it otherwise?

Happy is probably the wrong word, 'generally satisfied' is better. I have only covered about 5500 miles since September 14 but it has done all I require & the engine is very willing as has been the gearbox until this current glitch, which may be just that & not a real problem. That said it does make me feel a bit uneasy - esp with the poor resale values! Best wishes.
