Small/ Part leather retrim

Featured Replies

This wouldn't cost anywhere near a full leather would it for just replacing the black cloth parts? Anyone ever got any quotes?

Even potentially just the front square patch on front seats only, I suppose if you are going to do it you could do the entire middle part though to match more similar to the 230 but they could be 2 different cost options.

I think I'd be a lot happier. Not going 230 at this point either, at my petrol was bought used, cash, really cheap compared to most.

If you were going to do it, I'd do alcantara over leather. The leather is fake leather and any centre panel won't match anyway.

Nice suggestion. They should have done this already anway, like the old modeI think.

The black cloth looks very basic/cheap, I guess that is a good upsell for the heated/full leather which never came on mine but didn't really focus on when I was buying it as a must have, or obvious, but now ( like my fabia1) its clear this can easily start to look bad.

The mk2 had much nicer seats imo. I think they were part alcantara or something?

I would think a good coachfitters (is that still a thing? I'm old) will be able to do it but it wouldn't be cheap.

I'd imagine a lot of the cost would be diminished perhaps, if could remove the seats and covers myself? Wonder if anyone has removed the seats, and going further, remove the covers.....

I've done this with Recaros, converted to Fabia1 bases so tweaking with seats is nothing especially new.

Not looking for anything drastic ( or insurance worthy vast difference ) just thinking that small patch of seat could look subtely slightly better is all.

If you were going to do it, I'd do alcantara over leather. The leather is fake leather and any centre panel won't match anyway.

I'd have full leather (as I did on My Mk.2 L&K) over Alcantara any time - the latter clings to your behind, so if you don't get your sitting position right first time you can't squirm into a comfier situation.

Yeah but the op doesn't want a full leather and replacing the centre panels with anything other than a contrasting material is going to look cheap and nasty.

Hmm, maybe its not worth rushing into this, I've put some feelers out for quotes but I'm in no real rush, but could present some options.

I'd prefer the full leather but not going mad spending to answer that point:

If someone was to swap out their interior if they were p/x to Skoda or something, and that came up as a cheaper option then fair enough, I did something similar with Recaros for the Fabia

But I don't think I'd rush into spending a grand for luxury leather but I'm sure it would look amazing though from the pics I've seen where its been done.

Hi vRSAnt

I am looking to get a retrim on my vRS from Seat Surgens at York.

They did a retrim on my Monte, and have been very impressed- do a search in the Fabia 2 section. I was very concerned about the hot bum problem - it has not been a problem on my 400 mile trips to France!!

Hope this helps

They will look amazing in full leather ( and a serious job for the pro)

but its a lot of outlay for well, seats that work as seats when they aren't that awful

I just could be a bit better in the areas I pointed specifically not looking to replace the entire seat ( which isn't worn)

just conceptualise if there is any way they could have been originally a bit better.

I'd have to be looking at a very aggressively priced front seats only for more leather across the front ( no doubt with me sending them the covers I imagine to cut costs) but imagine this would still be costly

Just revisited though and some DO respect the option of owners removing their own interior, for about 1/2 the cost:

- and that is full leather all around job for £450 on a golf, which actually isn't that bad.

Answering the point about different materials also perhaps they could do like a dark gray leather patched instead of the cloth bits that stand out as naff.

Pity OEM covers aren't available as being a practical sort with a spare set I wouldn't put it past having a go myself experimenting with something easier to work like Alcantara. Think I might wait a while though til at least my warranty is out first lol.
