2.0 Diesel 150bhp with DSG

Featured Replies

Anyone running this combo in a Skoda/VW/Seat/Audi?

If so is it a good match of engine/torque/gearing?

Regards

Take it no one at all has this combo :(

To give me a heads up.

My mate has a Superb S11 on a 150bhp diesel but in a manual, thought someone might have a DSG to comment.

I have an S3 estate 150 DSG.

Very smooth gearbox that appears to be mapped to give 'comfort and economy' rather than 'performance'. The box settles well and is not constantly searching for the right gear. I still have to look at the indicator to see which gear I am in and rarely feel any gear change, up or down, during normal driving. 6th gear at about 45 mph if I am poodling in typical everyday traffic. However switch to sport settings for the gearbox and you can make decent progress. However, dropping down the gears can be a bit delayed when accelerating hard in sport.

So not exactly exciting progress but enough for most people I would say. If you are a traffic dodger then you may find it a bit too relaxed.

I don't tow so can't comment on that aspect; the car pulls fine at low revs.

I think there is plenty enough in the combination for most people and it is a smooth cruising barge that the DSG box makes even smoother.

hth

Had the CR140 with DSG and it was brilliant!

Cant speak for the 150 though, i dont know if its similar or not tbh.

I have a S11 140 DSG 4x4 and I am well happy with it alround even fully loaded with 5 adults  pulls no problem.

Took the 140 and the 170 out back to back test runs and couldnt tell the difference between them as you have to rev it hard to get the extra from the 170.
I am also a fan of the DSG as above ot just seem to find the right gear in needs to be in
It will be going in for a Remap soon but thats for better economy ( cough cough )

I also thought the S2 were 140 and S3 were 150????

His is a late 2013 and he seemed to think it was 150, perhaps his is 140, even he can't tell the difference :)

Thanks for all the replies, was worried it would be underpowered.

I found the 140 was quicker than i expected it to be. Torquey enough. I found DSG works well with diesels as theyre so short revving.

150 feels miles quicker than the old 140

No idea why but feels much more punchier

Wider spread of torque and the new models are lighter than the old models
