Poorly Dsg. Vrs!

Recommended Posts

I had my spark plugs changed by Skoda 3 months back and now it's misfiring in cold start. Tonight it sounded like a wrc car with anti lag. Not sure if it wa a DSG splutter or spark plug related, surely they can't have gone in 2k

Had diagnostic scan done this morning. And misfire found on cylinder 1. So Had cylinder 1 coil replaced as the seal inside had perished and broken. Thought this might have cured it. How wrong. Apparently the misfire has now moved to cylinder 3 and 4. And they talking about swopping this coil for that coil. Software updates and possibly the timing chain could be slipping and because it's vvt it's specialists job. Am I being mugged off or has anyone else had this problem. Thanks.

I cannot believe that the plugs haven't been removed as THE FIRST PORT OF CALL (facepalm).

When fouled with oil they can and do. They begin to spark erode and crumble.

I had this exact issue last month, change the coil packs as I had a misfire on Cylinder 2 and had recently replaced the spark plugs (about 2000 miles ago), after changing the coils booted it when warm hesitant and EPC light on again, my mechanic mate scanned again now had cylinder 3 & 4 misfire, he said straight away loads of misfire codes check the plugs, told him they were recent, he insisted. So checked the plugs cylinder 2 was oil fouled, and the others didn't look too clever refitted OEM skoda plugs and car ran better than ever. When checking the plugs against each other the gaps on the plugs I took out was much bigger, so I assume that either the garage that fitted the denso plugs 2000 miles before didn't check the gap or changed it, or they came incorrectly gapped from the factory. So I would defo check the plugs even if they have been changed recently

Hi all,

Just had my vrs estate 2 weeks and ecu light came on went straight back to Skoda and they change all spark plugs and gave the car a long test to make sure it wasnt happening again.

All cleared up but had the car back for 2 days and the ecu light flashing today after 30-40 mile round trip, came off the m4 and the light went off.

Service in skoda not open today so got to wait till monday.

Seems Im having the same problems as stated here, not happy.....

Faia vrs 38000 miles on the clock

I've got the same DSG issue with shudder when going from 1st to 2nd gear once the car is warm.

Got the 1.2 tsi version with 7 speed DSG

Would Skoda do anything for me? The car did not come with a service history though so I've not bothered trying to get them to fix it

Sorry to jump on your thread

Check in the Spare Tyre Well and see if there is a sticker to show the Service Campaign Work was done to change the Oil in the DSG from Synthetic to Mineral &

the Software for the DSG.  & check the VIN checker and see if there is any Service Recall Work outstanding.

If done then get in touch with Skoda UK Customer Services and raise a case on a faulty DSG.

If not contact Skoda UK Customer Services & raise a case on a faulty DSG and have them arrange a Dealership to do the work and check the MCU & Clutch packs.

Thank you for the reply, sorry I forgot to mention that I had the oil change done shortly after I purchased the car.

Would they not fob me off due to the car not having any service history?

Worth a try I guess

Regards

Almost certainly Skoda UK Customer Services will try to fob you off, as this is now how they are in which ever call centre that answers.

Then the Handler / Communications Manager will, and anyone else.

So you need to keep mentioning the known failures of the Mechatronic Control Units and the Clutch Packs & the World Wide Recall which was only a

EU / UK Service Campaign.

Also that the Service Campaign in New Zealand had new Mechatronic Control Units fitted.
