Tuning Box or Remap? Its all too confusing...

Featured Replies

Hi,

Have just joined the forum. Currently driving a Seat Arosa with the 1.4tdi PD engine.

At the moment it is fitted with a dragon analouge tuning box along with a BMC panel filter. This gave 90bhp and 173lb/ft of torque on the rolling road. However, the way the car drives with the tuning box is a little annoying, low down it is lumpy and there is a lot of shake at idle, then there is a large kick of boost and then it trails off again, also i worry about what the box is doing to the engine, being basically a resistor!

So I have decided that I want to upgrade. However I cannot decide which way to go, remap or a digital tuning box.

The number of remaps around just seems to be ever increasing and I find myself swamped and confused by which ones to go for?

Again i am confused with the tuning boxes, there is a large choice all varying in price!

What would people recommend the best route for me to take is, and which is the best module/remap for the job? Also is it worth paying out extra for a custom remap over an 'off-the-shelf' item?

Sorry for all the questions but I just needed to get this out my head!

Thanks,

Lee.

Dragon digital tuning box will give a power delivery at about

Hi Sleeky

Yes there are a few remaps to look in to.

We can offer you Custom-Code

www.custom-code.co.uk is their web site.

Try to do a search on all the remaps their is.

Peoples opinoins will be I have this remap and it is great.

But you will find that as they have only experienced 1 remap then that could be tricky.

But if you search then you will see who has come across problems.

You will not get many people coming on and slating a company on here as this is not how it is done on this forum as we are freindly.

We can also offer you other tuning modifications if you require.

Welcome to this great forum I can assure you everything has been covered on here.

The engine that you have can also be found in the Fabia so you will find information on here for you.

Happy new year and happy searching

Right,

After chatting things through with Moose we have decided that my best option will be a generic remap. I now just have to decide which to go for as there is a wide choice available!

Custom-Code, Revo, Jabbsport, AMD, etc...

Lee,

Like I said, best thing to do is wait for us to have a group buy and go with that. Money off then!!

Only reason we decided on a generic remap was because the car is pretty much standard bar a filter. Chances are a custom one will not improve it by enough to make it worth the extra. He wants a remap Rob, I did suggest a digi box and Sarah, bit too far from us down south. Though he has a CC dealer local.
