Decisions on replacement Octavia

Featured Replies

Have an 2008 Octavia Ambiente with 130k miles.  It was declared an insurance loss yesterday and I am looking for a replacement.  Budget £3000.

Seen 2 I like, a 2009 Elegance with 140k miles, and a 2008 Laurin & Klement with 120k miles.  Both 2.0 litre, both £3000.  At 40k miles per year there is really only 6 months difference.

Is the L&K worth it?  I am swayed mainly by it having 6 gears.  The 17" alloys mean more expensive tyres though, at least one set per year.  It has a space saver wheel which I detest.  Columbus radio but I am not interested in the Sat Nav. Memory seat and mirrors could be useful for the short-arse wife ;)  Does it have a better trip computer etc?

The Elegance has 16" alloys with full size spare and tinted glass. Bolero radio.

Other than that, both similar: Parking sensors, cruise control, dual zone aircon, front fogs, AUX in, yada yada

Thoughts?

Get the L&K :D

Tyres prices are really not that much dearer if you look at Camskill

6 speed box better for motorway cruising

You can pick up spare wheel and jack sets for about £50 from a breaker or keep the one you have from your own car the now :nerd:

Good luck

The L&K came standard with the maxidot trip computer. This was an option on the Elegance.

The Columbus is a much nicer stereo than the Bolero and the sat nav is actually pretty good.

I also think that being a 2008 it will have xenon headlights (xenons were standard from around that year. Prior to that they were optional but you got auto dim side mirrors as standard).
