New to VCDS

Featured Replies

I've posted this in VCDS technical but had no replies, is there anyone on here that can help me?

I'm new to Skoda and bought a 2011 2.0 tdi Cr Scout. I know this subject has been thrashed but I want to fit HID's to the dipped beam (H7) without burning the wiper motor out!! I've done a search with the VCDS but nothing that I can see relating to being able to change the setting to "without shutters" Am I missing something? Thanks.

Byte 14 bit 4 iirc. It doesn't have a label but should be xenons without shutters.

This will stop the bulb warning but will not protect your BCM.

The damage is done when the HID kit dumps energy back into the BCM causing damage to the MOSFET until it kills the BCM. No amount of coding will stop this I'm afraid. If you do fit them, put £100-£200 aside to replace the BCM... Dealer prices are significantly more.

Normal symptoms of a dead BCM is one of the front indicators staying on.

Many thank's for your replies lads. It's a stop from me then.

Osram coolblue intense are what i fitted to all front lights. Fog, dip and main. Not xenons i know but still light the road and do give a nice white light which are 100% legal

I replaced mine with osram nightbreakers and again, much better light, proper shape and reach and completely legal and safe. For the sake of under £20 much better modification. I might try the coolblue next time tonyuk74

I had cool blue in the jetta then nightbreakers in the exeo. Didnt seem to have the same whitness so ended up with cool blue again. Just personal preference really. Defo brighter than standard on both acounts as they were set right on the max limit with beam tester at work and had to notch them down a tad to stop folk flashing me. Altho i dont get flashed now a friend told me other day they were bright.

I replaced my standard dip beam bulbs on my FL to Osram nightbreakers too I am very pleased with them, would recommend them. I do a lot of B road night  driving and find them excellent

I think its a better route to take as for hid conversions im not a fan. They never have a correct beam image for one and they dazzle. Im sure aftermarket kits will soon be a mot fail.

If not they should be, I'm fed up with being blinded by those kits fitted to tacky stretched rim little polos travelling on solid suspension and bouncing up and down as they drive over a leaf
