P0642 - No other codes

Featured Replies

Hi guys. Not my car anymore but I sold my 2006 TFSI VRS to a friend so wanted to help out. When I had the car, it came up once with a P0642 which apparently relates to a low voltage. The battery was a bit tired so I put a new one in it before selling it to him. The freeze frame data looked like it was during cranking as it shows 0 load and 0rpm.

However the code has come back and after clearing came back again quite soon. I only have a generic OBD reader but most guidelines I found were about this code in conjunction with other codes. The rosstech site mentions checking the wiring to various sensors which all look OK.

Any ideas what would cause this code on its own? Car is on about 90k and running fine. Thanks in advance!

Did you notice this on the RossTech Notes.?

Ah good point. Does anyone know where I can find the TSB mentioned to see what it says? And what's a TPL? :)
