Wheel allignment - issues

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Just had my SKODA Citigo 75ps with sports suspension front wheel allignment done, please see the image I have attached, do the values look correct? I feel that everything that was in red should now be in green and the left and right values should be the same? They have gone off a factory Citigo with standard suspension, should this make a difference?

after driving 25 miles back home I've just found that my car starts shaking quite back at 60+ since they did the wheel allignment, also to note I had two new tyres fitted on Thursday last week but drove 750 miles over the bank holiday, smooth no issues...

Thanks in advance for any help or advise!

Jon

The chances are that you have lost a balance weight since the new tyres were fitted and this is what is causing the vibration.

Ordinarily only the front toe is adjustable on the Citigo and they have corrected this to within 0.01 degrees which is more than acceptable.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply ronime, is that's the case then no problem

Regarding only being able to change the toe , is it possible to change the camber at all?

Also regarding the weight, i just found it strange it's only started shaking above 60 after doing the allignment at lunch time today, I had the new tyres fitted last Thursday and have been fine for 750 miles before the allignment, could the allignment of cause the wheels to be off balance? Sorry I'm not too clued up on this stuff :)

Thanks

Jon

Wheel alignment should not cause the vibration that you are experiencing. Check that the wheel nuts are all tight and if that doesn't fix it then take the car back to the tyre fitters and ask them to check the balance again.

With regards to the camber, either they did not fit the lasers on the wheels properly when they did the alignment or you had a fat bird sat in the passenger seat. :D

Hi guys,

Just a quick update, I went back to the place today for them to check it out, they checked the balancing, they said one wheel was slightly "just slightly" out of balance, and the tracking was perfect.

The problem still exists unfortunately since the allignment was done, would anyone recommend going back to the old settings? If so would it be ok to ask for a refund on the wheel allignment since it has made my car worse?

Thanks in advance

Jon

None of the after should be in the red. They haven't done it properly at all. I would go somewhere else. They obviously don't know what they're doing.

I would agree in as much as I suspect that the sensors were not fitted properly to the wheels on the nearside. If this is not the case then there is not much that the technicians could have done as the front castor and camber are not adjustable on the Citigo and nothing can be adjusted at the rear.
