Flywheel question

Recommended Posts

Hi folks

Seems the dual mass flywheel on my pertrol vrs needs replacing, was considering saving some money/ future issues by binning the dmf and fitting a single mass.

Have any of you done this? was wondering what the difference will be etc.

Thank you

The SMF conversion is common for lesser powered engines (1.6 C& 1.9 diesels) - infact there is an official set of Skoda part numbers to do this. I don't think it will be as successful for the more powerful engines although there may be a sports clutch/ SMF conversion available

On the bigger engines, fitting a SMF is somewhat experimental. As mentioned on the petrol vrs models you will probably have to go down the route of upgraded race type clutch with SMF and will probably result in poorer driveability.

Don't forget the slave cylinder whilst in there.

Agreed - concentric slave cylinder replacement a gearbox out job and they seem to be less reliable than the external slave cylinder.
