SD card > album cover?

Featured Replies

Is it possible to install the album cover picture onto the SD card so it shows on the screen rather than just the album title?

It' would be much easier for selection whilst driving I feel if this is possible?

More information required about what system you will be playing it on, SD cards hold DATA,  most "obtained" music already has the front and back images of the original CD/LP included, and most PC and dedicated personal Media players can display this when playing the files, but fewer in-car units are capable.

The SD card that goes into the SD2 slot in the box in the glovebox on my vRS....if that helps.

I just get the SD2 box image at the top tight hand corner in the display panel, and feel it would be so much easier to identify which album I want to play with an instantly recognisable image rather that having to look for the album title.

I've transferred from pooter to SD card in MP3 format or mode or something if that also helps?

Not really, but it does narrow it down the Skodas own head units, is there nothing from RTFM ?? Which head unit, perhaps another owner with the same head unit knows the answer.

(if you dont know RTFM, then looking it is NSFW)

What's RTFM?

I'll move this to the Mk3 forum.

OK then.

What do you lot have showing on your screens when playing your SD cards?

Any of you have the album cover showing or just the album title?

Am I just wanting something that can't be done?

I'm absolutely staggered I've managed to transfer music on to it now anyway.

P'raps I'm just being greedy now ey?

Yes you can do this. You can add album art to each of your tracks using something like iTunes or MP3Tag on your computer. You add the album cover to each individual track.

It's part of the meta data in each MP3s file. There are numerous programs out there which can encode the image. I use EZ CD audio converter. The program can either use an image file on your PC (say from your scanner) or download it directly from Amazon. I'm sure there are others out there as well.

Oh. So it's not automatic whilst downloading onto the sd card then? I thought I must be doing something wrong.

I shall look into the suggestions made, tar.

Try downloading MP3Tag to add your album covers and and use Sanse MP3 Art Resizer to resize them all to 300 pixels x 300 pixels which works well for me on Bolero

While you're at it MP3 Gain will ensure every track on your SD card is set to the same volume.

They're all free downloads if you search Google for them.

I think I just put album art jpeg into the album folder, the file name had to be an exact match. For example if I had album folder "album 1" then in the folder I needed "album 1.jpeg". When Bolero opens the folder, it finds the art and displays it next to the song.

Pay attention to the size of the jpeg, someone already mentioned that it needs to be something like 300 x 300 px.

Hi, the maximum picture size is 500x500. This is what I set mine at and it works well on the Amundsen

If I'm honest I find this very hit and miss. I have transferred all of my albums from my iTunes library and regularly update it. Some come across and some don't. I've tried deleting the ones without and resending them but to no avail. Some on here use software and formatting before and seem to have good results but what puzzles me is I do the exact same with all my files and get varied results.

I must say that I'm finding track titles are not matching up on some albums.

I don't know if this is still the case, but I have had problems in the past when iTunes stores the album art as a .png file rather than a .jpg. I always change mine in MP3Tag now (copy and paste the cover and it converts it) and I don't have any issues.

cheers buddy I'll look into that next time I update my SD card. Good to know you've found a solution and thanks for the tip.

Yeah MP3Tag will sort everything for you... Album Titles, Track Titles & Album Art. Just make sure the covers are all .jpeg format and under 500pixels x 500pixels in size.

iTunes wouldn't be my first choice as I find it quite 'clunky' and not that reliable...
