Park assist / pilot options?

Featured Replies

Is park assist and park pilot the same thing?

Which one has cameras that gives a surround camera view?

Can the camera view be used when driving forward?

say on a track to see how high the grass centre is in relationship to the underside of the car or

when driving on flooded roads to see how deep the water is getting ahead?

Can the cameras be used as an all round dash cam saving the images to the SD card or an external device?

Has anyone got a video demo of using park assist or a web link  with the camera?

thanks

You have no access to the camera output in the windscreen, you can only see a camera image if you pay to have the reversing camera, that does stay on when you have finished your reversing manoeuvre  and start driving forwards but only until you are up to something like 5mph!

Park Pilot uses the parking sensor (rear only or front and rear depending on what options you have) to show your proximity to objects around  you and is displayed on the infotainment screen.

Park Assist will actually park the vehicle for you in both parallel or bays, it will also manoeuvre the vehicle out of a parallel parking space.

Park Pilot and Park Assist are the same thing. Park Pilot comes from the German VAG name for the system.

It uses ultrasound detectors on all four sides (the side sensors are on the wheel arches). There are no cameras involved.

The Park Assist is the same as was available on the Superb II with a few added functions.

The earlier version only aided reversing into a parallel parking space. The new system adds 90º forward/reverse bay parking and exiting from parallel parking.

There are lots of videos of the system in use online, just do a search for Skoda Park Assist.

When using Park Assist it uses both the Maxi Dot and Infotainment screens. The Maxi Dot shows instructions while the infotainment shows proximity alerts.

The only cameras are front and rear depending on chosen options.

The front camera has no viewing option. It is used for road sign recognition (Travel Assist), front/rear vehicle light detection (Light Assist and Smart Light Assist), and detecting road markings (Lane Assist).

The rear camera is the only one that will give a view on the Infotainment display.

There is no option to record from either camera.

Confused!!!!!!

I can find clips on web for both the superb and yeti as per below which show images using cameras. Is this not park assist but something different?

What to spec it if i go for a new superb

That's the ***optional*** rear camera. It displays whenever you select reverse gear and has nothing to do with Park Assist.

Park Assist only controls the steering. You need to select forward and reverse gears and control movement of the car.

As a result, when you select reverse gear the camera display switches on.

If you have Park Assist without the rear camera, the screen looks like this...

That person was using park pilot though - the wheel is turning by itself. The vision is coming from the rear view camera but obviously that car is optioned with both rear camera & park assist/park pilot

Park Pilot is a display showing the car and anything really near on the infotainment screen and beeping.
Park Assist is where the car will steer itself into a parking slot.
