Anyone tried the Mk3

I have a mk2 with the same 1.9PD engine as the Fabia ;)

Yeah but to be tactful in keeping with everyone else here, I find the mk2 styling rather challenging and not really to my taste.[emoji14]

Ahh well shoot me down.

Enjoy your slow mk3 ;)

Driving a new car which is under warranty is the perfect solution. If you can afford it, buy it from a dealer, get warranty, repair it under warranty (or better said, have a lot of things replaced meanwhile) and then just sell it and get another new one. Don't get me wrong, I love my slow MK1 8V MPI and hate my other 16v 100bhp one. I'm dreaming of an engine swap, but in financial terms speaking, I think a new MK3 Fabia would be just money well spent. Why complicate things ? Go for a test drive and don't have mercy with that car. If you like it, buy it. I do really think this should be available for any new car, not just for Skoda. Each and every person might like different things when talking about a car. Maybe one common thing is driving these cars, but other than that..are just the minor mods bits and thats that we all do. I like a good sound system and maybe it costs more than the car itself, somebody else might get a bigger turbo and a good remap .. and so on. Not many enjoy or afford (due to several reasons, such as financial, having a job, a family etc) spending lots of hours in the workshop ( and boy .. an old car really needs attention ). A new thing is a new thing. Period. It does worth each and every penny. It's not like you'd be buying an A8L Audi with a 4.2 V8 twin turbo petrol engine to drive it 3 miles alone from home to work just because you want to prove something.

It is a shame they haven't got a more powerful engine choice :(

As they look really good in Monte spec, well they would once lowered a bit ;)

Just a more powerful diesel would do me, I prefer having the torque to overtake without faffing needlessly with gears if possible...lazy in other words. Love my mk1 for that. Stick it in 6th once you're out of the 30 limit and your golden. Nvm, new brakes shortly of Jason to go with headlights I got off hutchy and the ap suspension I got off Mikael and the new cupra interior, drivers window motor, redo the door carrier seals properly with replacement rivets, then all I need is a RARB a dab radio, a heated screen and my cruise fitted and she's back on the road.

Love my VRs, wouldn't change it for anything else [emoji12]

Lets just have facts please !!!

"will be getting a move on better than a 130bhp Diesel Mk1 vRS"

has changed to

"do really quite well"...sounds like packbeddling to me.

Justify this with figures. You are trying to save the 1.2TSI is better than the 1.9TDI vRS, and I'm not just buying it as I've seen the figures.

Late BLT was circa 150hp apparently (proven on rolling roads)

310 Nm 229 lb-ft torque

128mph top speed

1.2 110 as standard - 108 bhp

175 Nm 129 lb-ft Torque

122 mph top speed

No point going into 0-60s, apparently on paper they are the same but its widely accepted that Skoda underquoted on this on the vRS given that some magazines re-tested and hit the 8s mark, which is easier to believe (particularly on the BLT its not as slow as what they are saying. I've driven against enough 3.0TDI esque cars to justify this to be the case)

Also compare std with std, or mapped with mapped, don't just bolster your own argument with whatever suites your own argument. You should get into politics !

Its either standard, in which case the BLT is better, or modified, in which case the BLT is better.

I'm sure 1.2tsi will feel competent to someone but I'm sorry I wouldn't downgrade it if was me.

Are we only looking at the 1.2? I thought the Mk2 VRS was 180 BHP not 108-110?? I may be missing something here  :D

It's fun sometimes to go in the MK3 forum and read all the VRS rumours lol. Bless em.

It's fun sometimes to go in the MK3 forum and read all the VRS rumours lol. Bless em.

...and to read the quality control issues as well :D

There are Quality Control issues a plenty.

As for vRS Rumours they seem to just be that there is constantly word from Skoda Dealership employees that there will be no vRS

which everyone knew.

Only Skoda Media department were hinting at a vRS early doors before they actually launched the 59-110ps Mk3's.

Can I please have some quarter mile videos of the 1.2 remap TSI's please. Wait, that's right, there aren't any are there ?

But I did google it and found this one

Wait....that devonutopia in a TDI ;)

Though there is quite a few of the 220 remapped videos that you so berrate though. Its fair to say that actually you can thank the 220 is pretty much flying the performance flag for the Skoda brand (with the exception of the 280 Superb, another petrol, which actually if you forgive the enormous price tag and boatness is quite an engine package).

So what you seem to be saying is complete and utter rubbish ( so much I'm thinking I'm still listening to the remain camp arguments of the EU referendum, frankly ).

If you can find something as cheap as what I payed for my 220, with the potential from something like an APR remap and overall package VFM, then good luck to you. I'd consider selling up and buying it instead, but for price and performance and newness couldn't find anything close mate.

I think this is misunderstandint the posts, please reread, it was posted that a 1.2 TSI remapped to 130 would get a move on better than a mk1 vRS.

Chortle.

Given this was originally about available Fabia mk3 models I think so wasn't a direct comparison to mk2 vRS ( which is respectible car although like all Skodas they all have their weak points).

To be fair the discussion has wandered a bit, with mentions of shame there isn't a Fabia mk3 vRS, some odd put downs of the Octavia 3 vRS despite being the current quickest car in all classes besides for the 280 Superb etc etc

I cant help you with any Euro 6 1.2TSI video on the 1/4 mile standard or mapped,

but if you want to look at youtube with Euro 5 1.2 TSI Seat Ibiza with Stage 1 and 130hp or so on track you can find them,

and the new engines do as well. Sadly Skoda do not bother much with brakes or suspension so nothing new there.

Octavias or even Superbs are the quickest cars currently available new from Skoda.

But fat taxi / airport transport sized vehicles a class up and available at good prices because depreciation is so bad with them.

If someone needs a big car they are a good choice.

I just saw a clip with the new 1.0 litre Octy. It does go up to 200kph. Interesting stuff.

i haven't read all of this thread so forgive me if i step on any toes...

I was given a loan of a mk3 1.2 TSI for a night while my own mk1 vRS SE was in for work after a service (the garage burst one of the fuel pipes to/from the filter and i had diesel leaking everywhere). I thought it was a really good looking car, lovely inside but it just lacked the performance i would want. I kicked it's head in and thought it was reasonably brisk fro 30 - 60mph but anything above that and it was slow. I couldn't get it past 105mph (on the speedo) on the same strip of private land that my own vRS will comfortably sit at 120mph (again, on the speedo) on.

I was intrigued about a vRS version and asked about it the next day and was told that the one i had been given was the most powerful available so that put me off right away.

The Octy vRS is definitely more interesting to watch :)

Yeah but my wife doesn't like driving big cars. Plus I love my mk1 VRs. Would only change it for an SE version. I was only thinking of changing to the new fab if there was a bigger diesel manual version.

We could always buy a written off one and brisky-fy it! Wonder what diesel engine would fit easiest into it [emoji2] Richards Citigo go go proves stuff can be made to fit!

I drive both, the Octavia definitely feels bigger on sweeping, narrower roads, but on most A and mways it literally flies thanks to the performance and doesn't feel like a barge at all.

It however seems to offer very flexible driving modes, unlike the Fabia 1 vRS which is almost difficult to drive it "slow" as it almost seems to have a one way valve as accelerator lol, the Octy however is ever so smooth in petrol form.

So you can just smooth cruise along, or floor it and literally fly and I can ensure you when you are moving like that the last thing you feel is large !

Other than my cramped driveway sometimes which require some planning on how I park, I don't really experience it seeming massive. Just parking but thats where the parking sensors visuals come in extremely handy.

She smashed both my Mazda 6 and rover 75. N/S/F both times. Once a gate post turning into work and once a parked car when parking in tesco. She won't even driver my bloody Caddy.

Heres a tip.

The problem isn't the car.
