VW Phaeton Factory

Featured Replies

Wow.

Bit of a difference from the photos of longbridge.:D

Holy cow!

Beautiful...

And now they're stopping selling them in the US!

That factory is certainly special -- hopefully they will stick with the phaeton, it may not be the best looking car in the world -- but they are really nice to drive.

I am lucky enough to have been to VW's Wolfsburg factory - where they build the golfs and jettas, but that factory is an old one - most of it dating back to the war, its quite funny really when you start the tour they take you round and the first 20 minutes is "Zis part waz bombbed in ze var but we rebuilt it ya!"

I've also been to Audi's Factory at Ingolstadt -- it's huge over 35,000 people are employed there -- the factory has its own supermarkets, butchers and bakers - every section of the factory has there own canteen - fully equipped for them to cook meals from scratch if they wanted - using all fresh ingrediants from the supermarket -- which is never more than a couple of minutes walk away -- or you could ride one of the many courtesy bicycles!

Oh yeah and the other thing -- both factories have vending machines -- nothing special there you might think ???

Untill you realise that they vend BEER  the workers are allowed to drink on the job - BUT there are VERY strict rules -- if you get drunk - you get sacked !!

Nearest thing to that I've seen is Prodrive's base for the Subaru WRC team. No car plant in this country is anything like that. Simply amazing.

makes me want a phaeton even more.

That's some great pics in there, interesting & impressive :)

I'm keeping an eye out for cheap Phaetons and VW Touraegs(sp).

Bit over an over the top factory for building big passats though
