What xenon bulb goes into the pre fl octavia vrs? And are they expensive

I think all MK2 Octavia's use a D1S bulb (Skoda partnumber: N10566103) for factory xenons.

It's probably about £50 each side depending on what brand you decide to go for. Personnally, I'd be looking to replace both and Taxi_G has an almost new set for a very reasonable price here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/391829-philips-d1s-x2-as-new-%C2%A355-posted/

Should be easy enough to replace and there is a guide here: http://www.bestxenon.ro/cum-se-schimba-un-bec-xenon-d1s-la-skoda-octavia-2/

Just remember to wear eye protection, disconnect the battery and don't touch the glass of the bulbs. Xenon bulbs are high pressure and need thousands of volts to turn on...

as above they will be D1S bulbs, just avoid e-bay as lots of fake bulbs

the Taxi_G ones in the for-sale section are very reasonable for £55, considering they have come from a reputable source.

If you are removing the whole headlamp from the car there is no need to disconnect the battery as you will be disconnecting the power source anyway when you unplugging the lead for the unit.

I bought a pair of Orsam Nightbreaker Arc for bulbs for £70 I think it was from powerbulbs. They had an offer on if you bought 2 and an offer on the bulbs individually.

Its best to replace them as a pair, like tyres etc so they last the same amount of time. Xenon bulbs normally should outlive the car anyway. My 56 VRS was on its original bulbs and I changed them as I noticed a slight change in the colour (a sign of them going). I dont expect to change these bulbs unless one breaks, they wont wear out before the car does thats for sure.
