Apple CarPlay & Bluetooth Advice

Featured Replies

Just a little something I discovered I thought the rest of you may benefit from. I appogises if this is common knowledge or has already been posted. I have only tried this with CarPlay so cannot comment if it works with Mirrorlink or AndroidAuto, but would assume it does.

If your going on a short journey, forget to take your phone out your bag/pocket or do plug in your iPhone using the USB but it glitches and doesn't work (I find turning off ignition and removing key fixes this, for me, anyway) then it means you are without a connection and potentially miss phone calls.

However, if before plugging in your phone (it can been prievous set up for CarPlay, don't worry) turn on the Bluetooth and set it up as a Bluetooth phone, this solves the problem. When you plug it in the unit automatically changes to ApplePlay, but as soon as its unplugged or isn't plugged in, it will search and connect up with Bluetooth (obviously the phone's bluetooth needs to be on).

Personally I find this very useful, especially when I'm jumping in and out the car and don't need GPS or my music (though even with the Bluetooth you can still play music using the media section).

Hope this helps someone.

Alexandros. :)

Definitely useful- I only plug my phone in for longer trips, or when I need to use satnav. I'd recommend having it setup for Bluetooth anyway, it just makes things easier. I've got a Samsung S7 Edge BTW, so my experiences are with Android Auto.
