Fabia Vrs Test Drive... What Happened???

Featured Replies

Colin,

do they feel "spongy"?

If you're not 100% happy take it back to the dealer.

My previous Octy had the typical VW/VAG brake pedal......outright braking was fine but it was kind of dead before anything happened. I think this has a lot to do with VWs built in "sneeze factor".

Octy RS' brake are much better for feel.

You were right Jonathan, but I'm still surprised that I would need to change the suspension to stop myself feeling sick!!! We'll see how we get on with a longer test drive, but it looks like springs will have to be added to the list and it may even take priority over the Jabbasport remap!!!

Neo VR, on the car I test drove the brakes were very good! I would say they were on par with BMW 3 series, for inital bite. Once I got over the shock of how good they were, progessive braking was easy to achieve! :) I scared myself to death, by jumping straight into fiancees Ford Ka after!!!

the brakes seem... as if they are un-assisted..

you get the inital bite, thats fine for light braking.. in traffic etc.. but when your using progressive braking.. ie on a motorway slip road, or trying to break harder than normal, the pedal is really really hard.. ive been unable to get the ABS to kick in, even when using my bodyweight on the pedal. i took it to the dealers, and one of the people drove it.. but they said its just because of mileage.. i tried thier demonstrator, which is alot better.. but i still wouldnt call it "right"

if thats how the brakes are suppost to be, then i think it makes the car dangerous..

Another person has suggested that it's the 'new car smell' that is causing car sickness!!!

Thing I noticed with the vRS was that I never really found the sixth gear's purpose. Torque and power was better using the lower to mid gears.

;)

Rich.
