1.8TSI economy

Featured Replies

Just wondering what most 1.8 owners generally get?

Back and forth to work (5 miles) I average about 32 over both journeys.

Today I drove to Gatwick and back - 380 miles - 43mpg average. Was up to 45 at one point - but the M25 on the way back buggered it - some unfortunate soul smashed up his Civic into the back of a van (hopefully they all safe though!) and did cause some delay.

Pretty similar to you.  Not sure I've ever seen 43mpg, though...

I've recalibrated the maxidot by VCDS so what I see is what I get.

I'll need to go fill the tank today so I'll get true reading of yesterday's trip

About the same for me. Have seen a tad more than 46 but that was on a steady down hill 'coast' whilst already up to 50mph plus. It never stays there. Over the last 800 miles my maxi dot is showing an average of 36.2. That's mixed steady urban with dual carriageway thrown in, to and fro from work 14 miles away.

So actually 42 on Maxidot means 39 in reality. I'm still very happy considering the size of the car. My very first Octavia was a 2.0 petrol and that read 32mpg no matter what I did! (That was a mark 1)

I am getting 36 MPG (measured by refilling, not maxidot) on average over last 10k miles

80% highway (85 mph)

20% city driving

I've just realised - slower you go, less oil burns, so its easy to hit even 50MPG:-) @ 60mph. but overall long term average (ca 9000 miles) maxidot shows 36,8MPG.
