oil leak from oil cap

Featured Replies

Good evening all,

I have noticed I have got a very small oil leak from the oil cap area of my car.

Car is a Fabia vrs which I recently bought I did think the garage had been clumsy with the oil change but appears not as I had cleaned the area now its re appearing.

any ideas? I am inclined to think it could be the cap itself but I have never know a oil cap to fail?

You need a new seal for it mate. Mine did the same and fixed with new seal.

The Skoda part number is 06A103483D

The number from TPS was 038115315 came to a massive £1.26

Its the filler housing extension that will be leaking. Remove, clean, install new. Sorted :)

interesting- I've noted a film of oil around the neck of mine. Is it same seal on all engines?

They pretty much all leak.

Its not an issue whatsoever.

Change the seal if your particular and want a clean looking bay. Wouldnt lose any sleep over it

As the others above have mentioned try a new seal on the cap. If that doesn't work get a new cap altogether. If you want to really scrimp and save money see if you can find a decent one from a car at a scrap yard.
