I have pre-ordered another VAG car for delivery sometime this year (jun-sept)

After selling my last one I'm in need to some reliable, sporty, fun & economical car for the next 6-9 mths.

The VRS seems to hold its value well and should be an ideal choice.

Since there are only 2 for sale near me, I'm looking to those in the knowledge on prices. Doing a national search on Autotrader shows up loads of used/pre reg'd ones. To me the prices seem all over the place. Some are looking for less for 05/55 plate cars than some 54 plate ones ?

You should be able to get a brand new VRS for less than 11500, probably 11200 from internet sites. I took this information to the dealers, saying that i definitely wanted a VRS, and they matched the price.

I had to get a few extras on top, as i didn't want to wait for it to be built, so they managed to source me one, virtually on the spec i required, and was driving it within two weeks. Would have been sooner, but it was coming from Scotland. All in all it cost me 11900 with heated seats, cruise control, metallic paint, third rear head rest and a passenger airbag deactivation switch.

Hope this will help persuade you get a VRS, as they are ace.

I'm aiming to get the 05 plater for £10500. They've got it up for £11500, but as I said I wouldn't have any trade-in.

I'd then hope to sell it privately later in the year for about £9500...

I'd only do 10K in it max in the 9 months I'd have it.

I think there was a place called Autofinders that were selling pre-reg ones for £10995 in Derby but that was 6 months ago.

my VRS furby on the way in march time. just a tad over 12k with Black Magic Pearlescent Paint, ESP, Heated Seats, Cruise Control and Xenons.

Went along to the dealer that had the 05 ex-demo Vrs up for sale.

They've dropped the price from last week. Now asking

I got a silver 55 ex demo with 3K on it today from a dealer in Harrogate. They had it on at 10995. Negotiated to 10700 in the end. Prices were much better (lower) last year around Sept/Oct. Autofinders and other places were offering new at 10995 and my local dealer would do them at 11200 with metallic. Today he wanted 11500 for an ex demo.

10.5 to 11 would seem the going rate from a dealer for what you're after.
