single wiper conversion for fabia?

Featured Replies

ive seen them for polos and ibizas but none for fabia .

d ya think they'd fit?

How would you get a full sweep? I'm trying to fathom it out. You'd have to use the lefthand motor but make it sweep an extra 60 degrees or more? No?

Oh, which then leads to the large areas being unswept too (coming from Citreon ZXs... :D)

you change the linkage i followed instructions in max power on a diy one for my Nova when i was a kid using fiat uno motor.

i suppose the guy who sells the polo and ibiza ones has figured out a linkage

Oh man! Never even looked into how they actually work. I suppose if the linkage extends the sweep by 60 degrees, BUT in the same turn of the motor, the actual speed of the sweep will be up by 60%? That would be very fast on double speed.

(I'm kind of curious what you do with the right hand motor/spindle too - just let it spin on its own? remove entire thing to save weight? :D)

Personally, I wouldn't bother with single wiper conversions. They look a bit tacky now-a-days.

Not having a go, each to his/her own and all that, but why would you want to do this? Is it just a looks thing?

yeah just a looks thing and a weight saving thing but not much

It's certainly NOT a performance thing. I had a ZX and frankly, wiping performance during heavy rain was terrifyingly bad. No way I'd even consider it, whether it looks good or not.

Agree though, each to their own :)

Weight saving LOL! thats the funniest thing I've read all day - just put less fuel in it if it worries you that much.

Weight saving - hmm well I'd start ripping out aircon, leccie windows etc first, and generally rip out all the heavy gear you wont need. I bet the improvement will be bigger :D

It's got to be for the looks or to be different IMHO, deffo NOT worth it for the supposed weight difference :)

your going for that classic touring car look aren't you?the one from the 80's(the crap decade)i now have to say "no offence meant, and each to there own"even though i think its the idea of a pleb(no offence )

Sorry mate, but single wipers look naff on cars that were designed with them, let alone cars being modified with the wiper stuck in the middle. All thats missing is a large body coloured 'sun strip' that sometimes comes free in max power for the complete 'Hey look at me I'm a prat' look.

Just my opinion and I'm sure you're a nice person to know, but they look awful.

I can't see the point in modifying the wipers to make them less efficient because a few people might think the car looks better as a consequence.
