Ugly towbar bracket

Featured Replies

My VRS FL Estate came with a full towbar kit with wiring etc. This was not made clear by the dealer when I inquired but they did remove the main part and secured the wiring and plug underneath the car. This has left the bracket part it bolts into underneath the bumper and looks ugly.

I do not have the time to contemplate removing the bumper, towbar and electrics, I just wondered if anyone knew of a cover that I could fit over it to look less inconspicuous before I have to modify something myself.

Do you have a photo?

I have a Witter removable towbar fitted to mine and nothing is visable when it is removed. The 13 pin socket also rotates out of sight behind the bumper.

The towbar bracket is usually just square tube that replaces the rear cross member. You can't remove the bracket without replacing the cross member.

If you're not going to use the towbar again the you may be able to cut the fittings from the square section. A reciprocating saw rather than angle grinder would be the better tool.

Covers aren't normally available as they are either fixed and visable or removable therefore barely detectable.

Thanks, I thought as much. I'll probably just use something like a small black plastic cover to stick over it. I could cut it off but someone may want one with a towbar when I eventually sell it.

Witter removable tow bar every time for me.
