Am All Custom Code'd UP :D

Featured Replies

And boy what a fanastically fast car my Octy L&K is now to drive

(please excuse any non-technical terms in the following post, but am sure James or Sarah will come to my rescue if need be  )

Got to JBS just before 12noon on 29th Dec, for a time up until this day thought the weather may hamper my tuning efforts (all curtosy of my gorg g/f, best xmas pressie ever me thinks).

Anyway i got their, after a quick chat with James regarding what flter i'd got, i also mentioned what other few mods i'd had done, anyway (wait for it) shock of all shocks he said " i'll put you phase two on seeing that its Christmas", i was like WOW really, anyway off he went with the keys.

My6 face must have been a picture at this point, obviously as i was only expecting the "off the shelf" power hike.

Around 45mins or so later, in comes James, to say what a very strong engine i'd got etc. (this is where it aint to technical sorry)... He went onto say that he had to tweak it back a bit as the standard exhaust i'd currently got was holding it back from producing top end(understanadable), me at this point still over the moon that i'd been phse two'd anyhow.

He quoted a figure of 185Gms (i really dont know what this actually means), but did mention GarryM(is it from here?) who had a figure less than this and won an Awesome Gti rolling road shoootout?

Anyhow, a Bhp figure of around 230 seems to be where i'll be at. I havnt got all that James wrote down for me, with me today.

Another positive is that i was told he would tweak it back up after i had my exhaust upgraded - TOP FELLA!!! He also seemed to think that it wouldnt even need the downpipe, just the system to allow it to get rid the exhaust gasses.

Bonus today, first trip into work and the trip computer is saying i got 32mpg, which on my short 7mile stop start journey, i never got above 28 before (Bonus).

All i can say is TOP TEAM, TOP BLOKE :D

Couldnt be happier really, after 3000 revs it goes like a rocket.

I've hardly been out the car since its been done, thats one of the reasons i aint posted until today bout it ;)

Tc all, and err CC highly recomendded here.

Lee

PS Must change signature now :D

Is it just a remap you've had? If so you'll be looking at 218-220 bhp.

I'm always impressed how the 150hp ones can be pushed up as high as the 180 vRS'

Makes you wonder why VAG detune them, but I guess they aim them at a different market than the outright vRS?

Hi

Le has had a few mods along the way with us.

So when he came in James did him a Custom map.

This was able to take in to effect some of the mods that he has done.

I do know that when James came in he was impressed with the drive of the car.

Like he said get the back box sorted Lee and you will be getting more.

Keep an eye out for the Rolling Road days that will be coming up soon and we will put it on the rollers for you for a printout.

Glad you are having fun with it.

Was nice to meet the other Sarah

Have fun

Sarah

Hi Sarah,

Yes i will deffo be there at a rolling road session!!! And i will be in touch shortly about the Miltek System ;) Maybe in or around end of January/beg feb.

It really is an awesome custom re-map, drives just like normal through the gears, but then if you press down on the Power pedal... Wow just takes off.

Be interesting to see what 0-60 time it would be.

So James thinks i've got a good un then Sarah - cool :)

Am I reading it correctly that you had a custom map done without the car going on the rollers? How does that work then?

It's done on a real road, works much better. Less chance of getting the loading wrong etc..

interesting......... I feel a new thread coming on

Hope its done on a private road ;)

I believe James has been stopped by the police when logging/mapping his own car. Their only concern was that he was covered by his insurance for this, once he confirmed he owned the company and was suitably insured for tuning cars they were happy.

As far as the testing on the road - he did mention he had the wheels spinning in third gear - if that helps.

sounds brilliant mate, glad your happy with it ( i must find a job soon ;) )

Have now got that little piece of paper, that James wrote down some figures on, so here goes....

185Gms @ 5.5K RPM

Standard Exhaust

Running Boost @ 1.3 Bar constant to 5K then drop because of exhaust.

0 Deg Timing pull, across the rev range

Only some of this makes sense to me, but all i know is it really is a transformed car to drive, but still, drive it like your granny, and it doesnt feel any different, if ya know what i mean :)

That sound like a good bunch ol' JBS :D

You sound, er, very happy with your remap
