Fitting aftermarket headlights (Octavia II RS 2006)

Featured Replies

Hi!

I bought these headlights that are suppose to fit my model and year. I drive an Octy II RS -06.

However, the only thing I can't connect is this cable.

The original connector looks like this.

...And this is the ballast. To the left is the connection for the xenonbulb and the right is the connector for the power.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I talked to a mechanic and he said I could perhaps cuts the wires and splice them. I'm not a comfortable of doing this sort of thing.

I would think there has to be some sort of adapter.

This is the back of the new headlamp where the "new" connector for the power comes from.

Does it have anyware for the oem plug to go?
Is that just for the dipped beam or is it for the whole unit?

Surely the company who make it provide some information if its that different from plug 'n' play. There isnt a plug like that, sounds like you need to buy some kind of adaptor.

Please explain "oem plug"?

That is just for the dipped beam, yes.

I have sent a mail to the online store that sold this headlamp and asked about an adapter. I hope for an answer on Monday.

The info other than fitment requirements is scarce at best. It basically says that it's just plug 'n' play.

There is no OEM socket on the back of the headlight unit - not with all that wiring on the outside of the healight unit - see attached step 5 & 6 & 7 & 8 for OEM socket - I see a plug in the bottom right hand side of the picture, maybe the OEM plug connects to this socket

Its most certainly not plug 'n' play. The oem light unit has one socket which goes into the bottom corner of the unit under the indicator and thats it. All the cabling is inside the light unit.

The plug you showed there looks like a generic waterproof plug like those they use on hid kits. Its not one to plug into the car thats for sure.

You might have to get some kind of adaptor but best to see what the seller has to say

Just cut the plug off and solder it to the other tail that fits.  Use a double wall of shrinkwrap, etc.

If you aren't comfortable doing that then any auto electrician can do it.

I took the easy way out and returned them. Saving some cash for something more important like an air intake kit, haha.
