Juddering

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have recently bought a 2008 skoda Octavia Vrs tdi soon after buying it I start getting problems with it, a juddering at low rpm sometimes it is slight and other times it is vigorous to the point the passenger seat rattler a lot, it also starts up really lumpy as if it is on 3 cylinders and it burns oil a lot aswell, I took it to skoda for a diagnostic and I was told I had a seized DMF and to replace with the clutch would be £1600 so I took it elsewhere to get done, happy days ............ Well apparently not as I have had it back and it is doing exactly the same. Any suggestions? Injectors? Turbo?

Sounds like it needs to go back into a garage and have a compression test done on each cylinder to start with. If anything shows up on that test, they will then have to find out exactly why it is running lumpy. It could be something internal with the engine. Has the fuelling / timing been checked?

Found this on my post for a different problem to yours. Not saying this is it but, you never know...

"I just had the inlet manifold flap motor replaced on my bkd diesel, not sure if your car has one. It made no difference to car when it was up and running but it apparently does a job starting and stopping, anti shudder or something."

How can a seized DMF cause it to start like it is firing on 3 and use a lot of oil ?.....or is it just me

Dmf can cause vibration and make it feel like its got a leg out of bed, but cant make a engine use oil. unless someone else can shed light on how ?

Cheers graham I have got it booked back in with skoda 19th of July, I will ask them to do compression test also, as it happens been out in it today and it has been running shocking!!

Well I am assuming that there is more than one issue with the car and they thought the vibration was to do with DMF but unfortunately that ain't solved it.

It also has a miss fire around 3000rpm, when sitting around there (I do a lot of motorway miles)
