Columbus leading me into a whole heap of trouble?

Featured Replies

Help! My Columbus system doesnt seem to recognise trouble ahead and give a detour option.  Last week the M1 was shut completely at Nottingham and all the way from Yorkshire the Columbus had a no-entry sign on the display but still insidted I went straight through it.  I have the dynamic routes option selected and would expect the system to offer me an alternative route.  Any ideas?????

Mine will not give a choice but makes an announcement that "the route has been changed due to current traffic conditions".

The problem with this feature is that it is reliant on the traffic information provided to it.

As this comes via the radio I find it is often out of date or not updated quick enough.

e.g.

sometimes I have seen that it shows an accident on one carriageway but free-flowing going the other direction which is not the case with all the rubber neckers.I

Was the no entry/closed sign showing on your side of the carriageway?

You can find more information in the traffic menu where it gives you a description of the traffic event which the Columbus is using.

Yes Gabbo - the M1 was shut in both directions - the system was telling me the Mway was shut but the route continued to drive me straight through the middle.  I don't have the voice on while driving so I wouldn't hear her tell me the route had changed.  I literally got close to the closure and hit the 'avoid motorway' function to get off and go around.  There must be a better way!

I gave up on the Columbus and got a TomTom!

Got sick of not getting the correct traffic information fast enough so got the TomTom with Europe maps, TomTom traffic, speed cameras etc...
