Door hinges removal help

Featured Replies

I bought a fabia 6y5, but the previous owner, unfortunately bended the front door over, so I changed it, but now I have a problem with the gab, I got 8-10mm st the back and 0-1mm in the front. I thought about releasing the hinges on the door and sliding a plade in on the between. Is there any other way, to adjusting the door? The t55 screw is so tight that I'm afraid of breaking the socket. I need some help.

Prob wants them adjusting by slackening off the hinges. It's actually much easier if you remove the door first. Only two 13mm nuts and the wiring plugs.

So if I take the door of its easier, to loosen the hinges?

You have much better access yes.

Will an air tool be a help or just make a higher risk of breaking the socket?

Not for Fabia, but you should get the idea.

Alexandru i look around youtube for advice. But didn't find any. The video is for adjusting the door up and down, my problem is sideways. My door I to far forward all most scraping the front wing, and having a "huge" gap to the rear door.

I posted that in the idea that loosen those bolts along with the ones from the inside might help you adjusting the door.

It's the same procedure. You will be able to move the door backwards or forwards as well as up or down once the hinge bolts are loosened as the bolt holes are oversized to allow for this.

Then I have to take the front wing off or can I messure the gab, take the door off and mark up the hinges position and move the towards the rear end of of the car, so the gab is evenly spread.

I just had a look at mine. It doesn't seem possible to get a socket on the bolts with the door/wing on. Both of the  bolts are on the outside of the A-pillar on mine unlike the Golf in that video where one bolt is inside the car.

Looks like the easiest way would be to remove the door as you said, but it will be an awkward process to get the alignment right. Probably will require several tries. What I'd do is remove the door. Loosen the A-pillar bolts enough to hold the door but allow you to move it with a little force. Put the door back on and align it all round. Remove the door again and tighten the A-pillar bolts.

Not something I'd look forward to doing tbh.

The top one got 2 bolts on the outside of the a-pillar and the bottom one got one inside and one outside. So my next step is taking the door off, try with some airtools to loosen the hinges on the door instead of adjusting the door on the pillar. So I have a long weekend insight, with door/wing adjusting, fitting ect ect.

Good luck :D

Yeah I wouldn't use airtools. Not necessary and might chew the bolt heads up.

Jobs done. Took the door of released the hinges on the door, and made a plade that fitted in between. With a smaal adjustment up and down, in and out, it's now working perfectly. Thanks for alle the help.
