Inspection now.

Featured Replies

A couple of weeks ago I started seeing "Inspection in xx days". I rang my dealer and was told that I was due a service at the end of Sept and that I could ignore it until then. It's now started pinging when I start up and showing "Inspection now". I was told I could get that switched off but I wonder if this could be a problem if anything went wrong with the car between now and Sept. Any thoughts?

Cold start "pinging"?

Hot and under load would be needed I would have thought for that to occur.

That will be the noise coming from behind the dash when you turn the ignition on, not an engine noise.

Mine did this following the first service as the service reset had not worked correctly.

Just to clarify - it pings once as the message appears on the maxidot. What was going through my mind was, what in the unlikely event that I have a major problem would be said about me ignoring the reminder. I don't have anything in writing, just a phone conversation.

longedge - what's the age and warranty status of your car?

Ryeman - the sound emitted by the warning "gong" thingy would, I guess, be indeed more of a "ping" to alert you to the message. rather than a clicking relay sort of noise.

Much like the "ping" you get if you have a maxidot speed limit reached setting engaged, and you then pass through the chosen speed. (SWMBO has that set at 30mph, because the UK speedo graduations marks are not clear to her eyes. As she uses the Yeti more than I do, I just tolerate the constant ping noises, in return for a quiet life :D in other areas!
