Essential Maintenance on 2nd Hand 2,0 vrs?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

So having just bought a 2006 2.0vrs, I'm looking at things I need to sort / check / change.

I've got a list so far from researching various sites and forums. Is this all overkill, or a good idea to go through each, and is there a good order they should be done in:

  1. Change fuel pump cam follower
  2. Change the diverter valve
  3. Change high pressure fuel pump
  4. Change the PCV front valve

I'm sure I read about some gauze thing stopping oil getting to the engine? But I can't remember what / where that was?

Anything else that would be advisable to check / change?

Thanks

The gauze part you mention may well be the oil pick up pipe and this is located via removal of the sump.

Add 4 wheel alignment, primarily to mitigate premature/uneven tyre wear.

Somewhere reputable too, which is easier said than done.

That's the one.

A friend has the vagcom cable / software so we're off out logging boost etc to see if it's all operating properly. If so, I'll leave alone. "don't fix what isn't broken" and all that.
