Superb II Towbar recommendation / pointer

Featured Replies

Hi folks

not new to the site, but new to the Superb, having had 4 Octy VRs in the past.I have a 2013 (13) SE+ Hatch, could any of you kind and wise people give me any pointers to a cheap Tow-bar?

7 pin electrics; removable `goose-neck`;  and if any rear bumper cutting would be involved. only required for occasional & light use, towing a very retro Alpenkreuzer 1980s Trailer Tent weighing 300 KG

Thanks all !

I have a removable Witter tow bar, used for a light trailer and my bike carrier.

All I can is that it is easy to detach/attach and that the bumper cut is so minimal that when I went to collect the car I was uncertain that the tow bar had been fitted. The bumper cut is invisible until you lie under the car. It really is not an issue.

Good luck

I got one of these fitted:

http://www.pfjones.c...le-tow-bar.html With the 13 pin electrics

By my local http://www.indespension.co.uk/ Cheapest price I could get.

It was £420 supplied and fitted, the detachable neck also fits into the space in the spare wheel.(A tight fit, but it does fit)

Get the OE detachable towbar and electrics. Cheaping out on the electrics especially is going to be troublesome. Towbar part number is 3T0092155 and the electrics is EEA800103EL. OE electrics integrate properly with lighting, ESP (it can detect swaying and correct for it), alarm (alarm goes off if the trailer is unplugged while the alarm is active) and parking sensors (disables the rears when a trailer is attached). That wiring kit also appears to support split charging (all the correct wiring is in place but I haven't had time to fit and test mine yet to confirm this).

Did you miss the part where the OP said "any pointers to a cheap Tow-bar", the parts alone for the OE towbar and electrics cost £420 and that's without fitting!

No I didn't miss it. I was pointing out why doing the electrics on the cheap is not a good idea.

  • 1 month later...

Just last Friday had Westphalia Detachable Tow Bar fitted with single electrics  to my Superb II 2014 ESTATE.... COST £325

Bumper cut out on underside out of sight, and electric socket folds upwards when not in use. Had same make of Tow Bar fitted to my previous  vehicle X3 , by same dealer.   Try TOWBAR2U  01325 340033  OR www.towbar2u.com

their fitters are excellent and the contact is David Liddle  General Manager
