How many litres does the petrol filler pipe hold?

Featured Replies

My little 1.4 TSI took 52 litres to fill today so, I gotta reckon the filler pipe is more 2 litres

I think between 2-3L as I've had a similar experience when filling up from 0miles to empty..

Most claimed in this forum was 55L by Theissen (apologies if speeling wrong)

The Manual only says fuel tank capacity to be "about" 50 litres. If you keep clicking the pump it will fill the air gaps in the tank.

Probably back up the fuel down the breather line and knacker the charcoal canister and purge valve too. Best not to brim a petrol.

Interesting... Will have to research this as never heard this before. Anyone else come across this point and able to validate?

Not so sure on the newer cars but was an issue we delt with on older models. Fabia MPi seemed to struggle with it, had a bulletin recognising the fault codes that got flagged after a contaminated vapour system.

You must have been brave to run it down that empty!  Best I've managed is 49 litre fill (2 clicks of filler) after doing ~11 miles past zero range appearing.
