So, i discovered a few weeks ago that my gear selector cables where rattling off the front heat shield on my VRS. I though i had solved the problem by moving them about and the heat shield and attaching some cable ties.

However the rattle returns after about a week and i have to re position them again. Is there meant to be a clip for these to attach to as i cant see one anywhere on mine and sure enough after a week or so the rattle returns and the cables touching the front heat shield again.

Any ideas? Don't want to be overly removing the heat shield if i can help it!

There should be two plastic clips attached to the lower bulkhead, I had the same problem until I re-clipped them back in.

That makes sence to me but cant find them. Are they under the heat shield?

I cannot remember where exactly but they are clear of the heat shield - Maybe from the bottom of the bulkhead and the start of the floor pan area.

I have just checked on my other car and found that it does not have the clips previously mentioned.

 

What it does have are like 2" pieces of hosepipe with 3/8" barbs on, imagine a hosepipe with porcupine quills in a star fashion.

 

I reckon if you cut two pieces of 2" x 10mm pipe insulation and just slip them on the cables to keep them from the floorpan, it should do the job.
