And them bloody avg speed cameras along the coast on what could abe a lovely flowing strip of road down toward girvan just make it a nightmare.. im never sure if the fines etc are transferable yet so do my best to keep the average, but its a balls.. my right foot is my cruise control too... only had it in one vehicle ive driven over the yrs, a santa fe i was using for a couple of weeks. Didnt like it, felt odd not being in control of the throttle..

I got done for 61mph on the M1 last year. Also looking into retrofitting cruise to my mk1 Fabia. Storks are available on eBay. Unsure of the process of fitting though.

As to the OP, likely 10%+2mph + speedo being out.  Both our VWs are out by exactly 3mph so 60 on the dial, is only 57.

Seing as how Average speed cameras use IR as a source- (and your average TV remote does likewise ), it is theoretically possibly ( so Internet gossip goes) to yell which cameras are on - use phone camera ti look for spot of bright light beside camera. it might also be possible to use a dashcam to detect these - but personally, I prefer not to take chances.

As for guidance on Prosecution - that's JUST GUIDELINES- 31/41 etc in 30/40 is breach.

As for 74- i don't know what part, but on a lot of it,it's possible to bypass it on older roads.

How can you tell how much the speedo is out by?

Using a Sat Nav / GPS gives you pretty much an idea.

As does driving towards a Smiley Face Speed Board in a 20, 30 or 40 MPH Speed Zone.  They are pretty damn accurate.

M74 north and south between Happendon and Crawford (North and South) has been a pain the backside for many weeks, replacing work surfaces in both directions has resulted in 40mph average speed cameras being installed. Like others, I've been sat at 40 on cruise control (on bus) and watched as drivers go flying past, some nearer 60 than 40, without a care in the world. Have seen more than a few trucks close to their 56mph and not bothering as well, some foreign plated others not.

 

And that's before going on a mad rant about the Raith interchange upgrade work and average speed cameras, or the ruination of the A9.
