New Skoda Model

Featured Replies

Apologies if everyone already knows about this but just read in AutoExpress that Skoda plan to bring out a new model to slot in between the OctyII and the Superb apparently based on the 'Tudor' concept (whatever that is). Unfortunately it looks nothing like This

or This

It actually looks like a Mazda Xedos 6 to me. Dissapointing to say the least and more evidence of VW reigning in the Skoda design team. Will be launched in 2008.

In between superb and octavia.... how?! Will it be hatch or saloon?! Between octy and furby i could understand, bigger than superb i could understand but inbetween.

Why dont they just build the tudor and do a superb estate :D

Why dont they just do a superb estate :D

Because small children and animals would disappear into the back , never to be seen again.

On a more serious note , I'd expect to see an estate when they make the next superb based on the new passat. No chance of it happening on the current one

when they make the next superb based on the new passat.

The new Passat is based on the Octavia 2 platform so the new Superb wont be. I've been told the new Superb will share a platform with the latest Audi A6.

Replacing the Fabia and the Octy? Surely not!

Very interesting , thanks Ross

Anyone know when the new superb is due, really interested in an estate version for the future....

Aren't Skoda allready committed to a new Fabia?, so a car to replace both the octy and the furb would be a while off, and surely commercial suicide, replacing a small car and a large car with a middle car?

Don't VAG already have every type of car available under the sun ?

Surely a re-bodied anything is possible, given that underpinnings are already there, and to keep a finger in every type of car, and to eventually conquer the motoring world, they are more than half way there already?

I thought the OctyII was based on the Golf platform  . The Passat has a much longer wheelbase than the Octy and is therefore a much larger car so surely it would be different i.e. Audi A6?. which to me would suggest that any replacement Superb would be based on this platform?.

The passat is based on a lengthend golf chasis, while the suberb is currently a lengthend passat chasis. Therefor the suberb cant be a lengthend passart as i would imagine they would lose too much stiffness.

Thats right the new Passat is based on the A5 (Golf 5 / Audi A3 / Octavia 2) platform. The current Superb is on the old Passat platform (Audi A4/ A6 previous generation) This is important because the Audi platform has a longditudinally mounted drivetrain where as the A5 platform is of course transverse.

of course! Why didn't I realise that!!! ;) :P

Which is why you can now get a Passat with DSG.
