Hi, my brother has an Octavia VRS MKII pre face-lift (which I would heavily like to buy off of him but it's pretty pointless only being 16 myself).

He has a brake light out, the bottom left one. The connector seems to have 2 offset pins but every autoshop that I have been to has given me a bulb with only one pin on. Can anybody give me some advice please?

While on the subject, I heard they did different powered engines.

He has the 2litre diesel, 2006, how would we check how much horsepower he has (other than using a dyno)?

It would have had around 170bhp when new: http://www.parkers.co.uk/skoda/octavia/vrs-2005/specs/ how much it has now is anyone guess

 

As for the bulb, it's probably one of these: http://www.halfords.com/motoring/bulbs-blades-batteries/car-bulbs/halfords-380hd-21-5w-heavy-duty-car-bulbs-x-2 assuming you mean the pins are offset vertically as shown here:

The brake lights are on the top not the bottom.

 

Bottom right is the fog light, bottom left is also a fog light but is not activated on UK models.

 

 

 

You can see them here in emergency stop mode...
